DARTFORD v MILLWALL LIONESSES (RED CARD DAY!) South East Regional Premier League Sun 22 Feb, Ko 13:00. Princes Park

Post by Ajaxman DFC »

This Sunday it's back to business as our ladies resume their bid for promotion when they take on Millwall Lionesses at Princes Park.
This fixture is normally a feisty affair which can be summed up in three words:-

RED CARD DAY!

Yep, there's always one player who sees red. It's just a question of from which side? Sometimes it's one of ours, at others it's one of their girls heading for an early shower.
I'll let our head statician, Tony Brown, checkout which club currently leads the dubious honour on that one.
But I do know our ladies historically have relished the fierce local rivalry this fixture brings between Dartford and Millwall Lionesses. Just ask Lizzie Adams, lol.
Bring it on!

No cards of any colour today, the referee must have left them at home. He had plenty of opportunity to brandish a few but chose to let Millwall assault our players all afternoon. Xayla-Rae's ankles must be sore after constant fouls and no protection from the referee. Someone in the crowd should have been expelled for the disgusting abuse levelled at some of our players. Although this person was challenged by a few Dartford people, the offender was still there at the end. I think if we play this lot again, stewards need to be present in order to eject certain elements. There is absolutely no need for the personal insults to be hurled. I hope Dartford FC will be registering a complaint.
Anyway, despite Millwall parking their bus on the Princes Park pitch, an absolute wonder strike from Lottie Cunningham secured the three points for the Darts. Well done to all of our girls for keeping calm heads and getting the job done.

If Beth Powell was still playing for us there would have been a red card. I'd have put money on it. 🤣

With the referee's pockets being sewn up even Beth wouldn't have got a card.
I did question why we kick off at 1pm and apparently it suits our girls to do so. Can't really argue with that, I suppose, as some have a bit of travelling home and work next day. I see your point though.
The pitch isn't too bad. I replace the pivot and scrapes as best I can before each game, as we have no regular groundsman and nobody bothers after the men's games until during the following week. Jay was always out on the pitch as soon as the final whistle went. It's a bit boggy by the dugout where the sun never gets to.
Hope to see you down for a few games soon. Especially Saltdean away!
