I stopped betting years ago but for some reason thought I’d check out the odds for today’s game and was surprised to see us such strong favourites. Given our burgeoning propensity to disappoint after a couple of decent results this season, it’s tempting to lump on our visitors at almost 5/1…

Indeed. I’ve seen that quite a bit this season. It seems the bookies’ risk assessors are not so on the ball in the lower echelons of the game as they are at the top.

Must be in honour of our home record (P17 W11 D4 L2) which is pretty good. It’s just that we have seen the pattern repeat which is usually a dowdy away performance. We have thrown our own algorithm slightly with the last two results being away.
Just as we are not going to make up 10 points to catch Brentwood, neither will Dulwich be catching us, so they have nothing to play for as they host Billericay this afternoon. Just need to hope for a slip up. Could happen.

Whilst it looks unlikely, I wouldn't go so far as to say we need a miracle to make the play-offs and there's nothing wrong with talking about it and hoping. Last week we were the better side against the runaway leaders, so the squad are more than capable. That sort of performance level for the last 7 games would give us half a chance. Unfortunately though, we underperform on frequent occasions and that's the problem. When you watch performances like those at Potters Bar and Wingate & Finchley, or even the diabolically poor, over celebrated, scrambled victory at Welling, it takes a lot of effort to be optimistic. Lets win today and keep the season alive for another week at least.

Thoroughly deserevd lead at the break. Going forward we've looked really dangerous and on another day could have had a couple more. They've given us a couple of scares so if there is another goal, it could be massive.
