MOTM Samir

Looked a completely different team for the worst when he come off. Nobody wanted to take control of the game and it was hit and hope

Ade yussef is an appalling footballer.
Once again we have the best finisher at the club (Olly) sat on the bench.
We won’t go anywhere with Pennock at the helm.

First half we did ok and though we never dominated we deserved to be in front at the break.
Second half they looked the better side and in the end we were lucky to get a draw.

Sam's first half goal was a good strike but their keeper helped us with the second and Olly was in the right place at the right time to score the third, no surprise there. I know there was some "talk" about managing Olly's recent injury with artificial pitches but that aside, i can't understand why he was on the bench again tonight especially with no game Saturday? I'd argue he's probably our best finisher and to not play him is a mistake imo, especially as we're playing Yussuf whose not even our player and we don't even know if he'll be allowed to play or not, as happened away at Potters bar last week. Not Yussuf's fault and no criticism of him but should we really be in that position, i don't think so.

The video highlights will be interesting as lots of talking points at our end, but the majority i don't think will be a good watch for us.

No doubt some will say it's a good away point and we continue our unbeaten run but it doesn't feel good to me, we were poor second half against a very ordinary Hashtag side.

This squad is short in numbers and quality and i don't think we will be challenging for promotion unless Ady starts bringing in some additions now, and from what i've seen of this division so far, that would not be good enough for us.

MOTM a tough one - Carruthers looked our most creative player and was missed when he went off, Callum worked tirelessly as usual and Olly came on and added a spark and scored, other than that nobody else really stood out.

After a fairly decent first half, we began to look very shaky at the back and were only able to have any sort of attacking prowess once our opponents took the lead. It was quite bizarre.
Real turning point seemed to be the enforced substitution of our photographer’s shoes. Gotta love non-league.

Box MUST start.

Very lucky
The ref blew the whistle as the ball was kicked so something in the box rather than anything else your making up to make yourself popular!

Why is it that we have a recent history of absolute shite strikers?

Yeah it does seem that whoever we turn too ends up being really underwhelming.
Callum jones hasn’t scored for awhile, but he does work his socks off every week.
I don’t think the system helps, we played much better at the start of the season with a 4-3-3.

I mentioned
Lets definitely put a few chances away but the defence needs to tighten up and build some better understanding on how to defend so that Jacob has more confidence in them and doesn't have to work quite so hard.
50% sorted taking our chances with 3 goals :) but no tightening up in the defence with 3 goals against and just the one point is not good enough

Sam Oduado is a fine lad, built like a brick out house and has a powerful shot. So why do I think he get's shoved off the ball easy by attacking players?
Wouldn't it be more sensible to get in a decent left back and put Sam up the pitch , maybe as a defensive midfielder.
There are a lot of blunders currently at the back and as said, last night, it seems, was no exception.
Callum does a lot of unselfish running up front and must feel he's banging his head against the wall. He fights hard for the ball and often, when he does win the ball, he looks up and the nearest Dartford player is 20 yards behind. It must be frustrating for the lad.
We are in for a mediocre season, mid table at the best. But I do think that is going to be the case, it is not a surprise.
I don't get these supporters who feel we should be up there with the mighty Dover at this time.
I'm always reminded of the mighty Darlington when they dropped out of the EFL. They came down with that 'We shouldn't be here' attitude and spent a fortune getting back into the league only to go belly up not long after.
I think Ade's heart is in the right place but he hasn't got a great squad. I feel a couple of decent players with the experience coming in could turn our season around but he's going to have to do it quick.

It’s people like you that give the board a feee pass.
To say we’re mid table at best is basically a defeatist and poor attitude.
What is wrong with positivity or s that too much for you.
We shouldn’t be in this league but the club and particularly the board f* ed it up in so many ways and they are mostly responsible.
We are here we know why and we should be aiming for the title, if you don’t think we should be then you carry on letting the club get away with it.
Glad you’re ok with this mess.

Sorry Kentc for any offence but where in my post did I say I was happy with the situation?
Of course I'm not happy.
We are not far off the play off positions but unless Ade gets a couple of experienced fresh faces in we are probably going to stay there.
So get off your Darlington bred horse .
A couple of player tweaks could make a hell of a difference to our situation.

Why shouldn't we feel like we should be up there? Dover have gone through the exact same situation as us, arguably an even bigger rebuild as they were in a bigger mess last season and they have hit the ground running.

I'm not accepting mid table mediocrity I'm sorry, we should be at minimum in the playoffs. The squad that has been assembled is weak, tactically we look lost and no identity on the team. That is on the management and the recruitment staff.

Is it me?
Of course we should feel that we should be up there with Dover slogging it out. If you didn't you wouldn't be a Dartford supporter.
But what part of, if we add a couple of experienced players to the squad , we could be up there doing it, do you not get?
At the moment we are a mid table side. I'm not saying I'm happy with it.
Let's face it Mark, if we were walking this division you'd still be moaning. You did last season and it didn't take you long to get back in the groove.
There were a lot that saw the defensive display against Wingate and F . My post was my way of tightening up at the back. Whether you agree or not isn't my problem.

It's bad enough friends and relatives taking the p*** when they hear we're even PLAYING matches against the paper mills and a keyboard symbol, but the fact that we're not good enough to beat them is not making it any easier .... and before anyone accuses me of having a Johnny Big Bananas attitude, here's a reminder of where we were just 12 years ago.

https://www.newsshopper.co.uk/sport/oth ... -dartford/

I'm fed up with being humble, this club needs to have a bit of self belief again. I'm on board with the fact that Ade is having to rebuild from scratch and all that, but I'm calling matches like this one a fail, not a success. The Cheshunt game was good, Potter Bar was good, but Cray Valley and Hashtag were not. Four league games unbeaten is progress, but 7 points from the last 27 is nowhere near good enough for a side that even just two years ago finished runners-up in the league above. The bar has to be set a lot higher than this.

Spot on Spike, my sentiments exactly.

If it's any consolation though, the Luton fans probably felt even worse after that result; "Has it come to this? Losing at home to a club from a town only known for being at the arse end of the tunnel!". And ten years later, they were promoted to the Premier League.

It got me thinking, there were some very dark times in the Kent League after we reformed, but there always seemed like there was hope, ambition and direction. I just can't see that at the moment though 😒
