Oi, what about me!?
A little harsh there I think M1, but all ex-refs would think the same, particularly those that reffed in the same era as SD and me!
I do agree with todays ref’s though, cannot spot a clear foul and often get the big decisions wrong, such as yesterdays. Never a sending off in a million years - a robust tackle, won the ball cleanly, not even a foul.

The Isthmian League at the time I reffed produced top class referees such as Mark Halsey, Graham Barber, Graham Poll, Rob Styles, Steve Bennett and many more.

So many fans said after the game “much better”. But for a ridiculous, and completely incorrect, sending off we’d have won that game. Unfortunately going a player down seemed to limit our attacking opportunities, hence very few were created in the second half compared with the first.

The formation looked more balanced and Olarawaju’s introduction looks sound.

Hopefully a springboard for an improved season and a run of results.

I'm still trying to figure out what category I come under M1. 🤔. Spike , do you really think the assistant linesman would give his view on the sending off at an appeal?

I agree with your sentiments M1S, but not so sure about every aspect of your detailed personal profiles 😁😁😁😁

However, the standard of refereeing at this level is utterly atrocious, which is another price to pay for our relegation sadly, along with the general lower standard of football and players too.

Whilst Tony is correct that the Isthmian league has unearthed some excellent referees in the past, the overall decline in the quality and quantity of Referees these days, is such that half of the Referees currently on the Isthmian list wouldn't have even cut it in Sunday League football 10 years ago.

The problem with most of the referees I have seen for the past three seasons or so is that they seem to want to make themselves the centre of the attention and not the game itself. “Look at me everyone. I’m in charge here! This is all about me!” The standard is appalling and I put it some to the general dearth of referees at grass roots which, inevitably, means, that quite a few are being over promoted way to early and are simply not prepared for the semi-pro game and general ‘man-management’ and interpersonal skills. MIS is correct, most will definitely not have played the game at a senior level. I like to think that when I was ‘in the system’ (with Tony H) all those years ago, things were much better. There’s a gulf of difference now. That tool yesterday did the classic mistake of responding to players’ reactions. Players who have been coached to do just that. Influence the referee. He fell for it hook, line and stinker!!

Despite some controversial refereeing decisions
I thought that we were much improved from the previous 2 games.
But .....In the last 3 games we have not scored a single goal.
Just saying!

Dare I say it the advent of VAR and messing about with offside and handball laws really haven’t helped and as for foul tackles I am convinced nobody seems to know what constitutes a foul and what doesn’t!

Ridiculous decision. Wasn’t even a foul. You wouldn’t mind but the ref was right next to the incident and everyone could see the tackle coming because of the way the ball deflected, and he still got it completely wrong!

That video 100% shows how much of a mug that referee really was with that red card decision. Pinder clearly won the ball seconds before it bounced off the Hendon player who went over when he connected, not a bat in hells chance of it being a red.

I'd argue also that both our goals were onside from the replays

If the club do not appeal that decision you have to wonder what they are doing.
There was no malicious intent from Jeremiah and the ref got it all wrong. BIG TIME.
An absolute ridiculous decision. A disgrace.

Again didnt get to the game but we do seem to be NOT getting any breaks currently but I was pleased to see the comments re Duane having an real input [ and3 motm votes] as he is just the sort of guy we need with the youngsters and he has a few doubters to show what the real[ previous] Duane can do and Ade obviously believes in him !!

Sill a winger and a midfield player short !!!!!!

As I knew at the time both goals were onside and the tackle was perfectly times , if anyone was late into the challenge it was the Hendon player .
