Replay night today to find where the Darts are off to Saturday week. This is Horsham's first FA Cup tie in their new ground, the catchily named
The Camping World Community Stadium, at Hop Oast, Worthing Road, Horsham. Their twitter site confusingly says it is their first home fa cup match since 2008, though I think they mean it is their first home tie at a ground of their own as they have led a nomadic existence of late. That last tie was against Swansea City, top of Division 1 at the time, finished in a 1 - 1 draw. The replay, which was Swansea's first FA Cup at The Liberty Stadium was lost 2 - 6.
In 1992 Horsham had a walkover, can anyone hazard a guess who their erstwhile opponents were? In 1996 the Darts were at drawn at home to Horsham in the Preliminary Round, resulting in a 1 - 1 draw, unfortunately the replay was lost 1 - 0.
I well remember our Met. Police, being at the match and watching the highlights. Didn't Jimmy Hill don a policeman's helmet to mark the occasion? Or is that just my befuddled mind.
Good news in our quest for cup success we have a bye in the First Round of The Kent Senior Cup. Without doubt the Board will emphasis that the winning of this cup will be the major objective of our yet to be named manager. All other competitions are just sideshows, to be used to achieve this aim.
