Isthmian Premier 2024/25

Post by The Duke »

Currently 14 teams will be in our league next season plus 3 who do NOT get promoted via the play offs from the Isthmian Premier to the NLS and 1 who gets promoted from the Isthmian South East through the play offs making a total of 18 teams , where do the remaining 4 come from ??????????

Maybe the league will look something like this....
1 - Dartford
2 - Dover
3 - Losing playoff finalist
4 - Losing playoff semi-finalist
5 - Losing playoff semi-finalist
6 - Billericay
7 - Hastings
8 - Carshalton
9 - Hashtag
10 - Dulwich
11 - Lewes
12 - Bognor Regis
13 - Whitehawk
14 - Potters Bar
15 - Folkestone
16 - Cray Wanderers
17 - Canvey Island
18 - Cheshunt
19 - Cray Valley Paper Mills
20 - Ramsgate, Sittingbourne, Three Bridges or Chichester City
21 - Marlow, Westfield, Southall or Leatherhead
22 - Bowers and Pitsea, Brentwood Town, Felixstowe or Bury (although Felixstowe and Bury probably better suited in the Southern Central)

There could be switching between leagues I guess (a Southern League team coming across) and there's also Bishop's Stortford coming down from the National North.

And if there is anyone who thinks well definitely go up you’ve only got to look at Concord (relegated again), Cheshunt (nearly relegated again) and Dulwich (mid-table).

To win it everything has to fall into place. It could be playoffs, and we know how shit we are at those. And we could easily fall into a rut, forget how to win and be nearer the bottom.

Depends who we bring in, but most likely is we’ll be around the playoffs and fail.

This is a page I look at every year, they are very good at projecting which divisions teams will go in at every step of non league. They currently have the Isthmian Prem next season down as the following:

Billericay Town
Bognor Regis Town
Canvey Island
Carshalton Athletic
Cheshunt
Cray Wanderers
Dulwich Hamlet
Enfield Town
Folkestone Invicta
Hashtag United
Hastings United
Horsham
Lewes
Potters Bar Town
Whitehawk
Wingate & Finchley
Hendon (Transferred from SPS)
Bishop's Stortford (Relegated from NLN)
Dartford (Relegated from NLS)
Dover Athletic (Relegated from NLS)
Cray Valley (Paper Mills) (Promoted from ILSE)
Ramsgate (Promoted from ILSE; assumed playoff winners)

This is with the assumption that Ramsgate will win their playoff and Hendon transfer from the Southern Premier South.

This is also assuming that Chatham beat Horsham in the play offs.

If that comes to pass then Bishops Stortford and Hendon will be delighted with that outcome. Hendon will have had major travel commitments in the Southern League - as had Hayes & Yeading and Harrow Borough who both were relegated. I can't see how teams in London can compete for the required standard of players to compete at this level when they are in the SL and their local rivals are in the Isthmian - I know if I was a player which league I would prefer to be in for travel

Ramsgate will not be joining us as they lose 1-0 to Chichester in their playoff.

Bowers & Pitsea Vs Brentwood in the North final. Will be interesting to see who doesn’t enter our league then. I’m now presuming Hendon will stay where they are?

Enfield 1-0 Wingate & Finchley
Chatham 1-1 Horsham (Chatham win on pens)

Mitch Beeney took the first penalty for Chatham and missed, however saved 2 to make up for it and send them through!

Isthmian Central Play Offs:

Leatherhead beat Southall 3-2 on penalties after being 1-1 AET.

Marlow beat Westfield 3-2.

Presumably winner will go into Southern League South but a potential case for Leatherhead to come into our league if they beat Marlow?

Maidenhead used to be in the South League with us.

2010-2012 Blue Square Bet South League
2015-2017 Vanarama National League South

Maidenhead is close to Marlow, as I know as I had to commute to our offices in Bourne End from Dartford for many years.

Miss the hourly train from Maidenhead to Bourne End as the train couldn't wait for the London train to get in and I faced an hour on a platform with SFA to do - there wasn't even a shop at that time. Many a time I had to sprint from platform to platform, going down the steps and back up - that was packed with pesky commuters.

Trains from Maidenhead go to Bourne End (via Furze Platt & Cookham) and then to Marlow. It's a single line. Probably quicker canoeing from Dartford to Marlow on the Thames, if Marlow get into our league.

Shame that both Ramsgate and Sittingbourne were both knocked out in the playoffs. I really fancied a stroll down to Ramsgate for a match with my gym pal who thought it was a dead cert game for next season.
He is being ribbed now, especially by me.🤭

Bowers and Pitsea made an immediate return to the Isthmian Premier following relegation. Two penalty shoot out wins in the play off semi and final was sufficient. Perhaps we can take some encouragement from that although our record in play off penalties suggests otherwise!
