Hampton & Richmond v Dartford
Hampton are safe from relegation so Saturdays game is a " nothing game " so surely give all the key players a rest and play the fringe with a
number of the best Academy lads , that will avoid any key players getting injured and keep them fresh for the all important Semi Final ????

I moved your new topic into the existing match thread. The Duke wrote: ↑Sun Apr 23, 2023 11:24 pm Hampton are safe from relegation so Saturdays game is a " nothing game " so surely give all the key players a rest and play the fringe with a

That’s a fair point Duke, but it will mean any players rested will have a 15 x day break between matches??
Could be a little too long maybe??

You’d hope recovery time for players like Caruthers and Wall (assuming they’ll be fit for playoffs at all) while rotating other key players so they maintain fitness without playing the full 90. Maybe the odd academy player but I’d imagine we want to maintain a winning mentality.

I'd be tempted to at least give Manny Adebowale a chance. You never know he might be good at what the feck we got him for.
I think we should mix it up a bit on Saturday to keep the squad happy and hope that the few get to be match fit.

The pressure is off to a large extent, but it would be great see a "handbrake off" confidence boosting winning performance, to set us up a treat for the play-offs.
Come on you Darts!

Sorry guys, resting players, eh!? Madness (unless resting players carrying injuries gives them time to recover). Taking momentum into play-off’s is key (same in any sport). Play our strongest team (barring those injured of course!)
Re: Hampton & Richmond Borough v Dartford Sat 29 Apr 2023
Rest players we don’t need any silly yellow or red cards or injuries.

I’m for not resting players. What about him picking his planned side for the play off semi (if available) and, hopefully, the final. One game to ‘bed in’ and see how it goes. Then make adjustments IF absolutely necessary. No fannying around. Kinda like a last pre-season friendly before the league starts the following week.

Clearly, there are very good arguments to be made on both sides of this debate and the only thing I am sure of is that if we go on to win promotion through the play-offs then Dowse will have made the right decision and we'll all forget what side of the argument we were on. If we fail, then whatever decision Dowse made, it will be all his fault and he'll get slaughtered for it on here. Such is the life of a football manager.

Sounds like Dowse will not use many youngsters at Hampton:-

Feels nice to go into a game without any pressure. Main thing today is avoiding any injuries/suspensions and giving rests to those who need it to ensure they're fully fit for the playoffs.
Will be interesting to see exactly how much rotation Dowse decides to go with.

There is plenty of changes the common sense approach.Mark Sweet wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 10:58 am Feels nice to go into a game without any pressure. Main thing today is avoiding any injuries/suspensions and giving rests to those who need it to ensure they're fully fit for the playoffs.
