DFCSA Social Events - 2021/22

Post by Gary C »

After what feels like a life-time, DFCSA are back with social events. These are crucial for fundraising, especially given the lack of opportunity we have had over the last 19 months.

Our next quiz night is on Sunday 3rd October 2021, with a 7pm kick-off in the Champions Bar. £12 entry for a team of up to 10. You don't need to book, you can just turn up on the night.

We then have our first DFCSA Race Night since the pandemic in the Princes Suite, Bericote Powerhouse Princes Park on Saturday 9th October starting at 6pm. Entry will be free to all, with DFCSA members receiving £2 of free bets.

We are all looking forward to being back in your company!

I can't be there, but I've got my name on some horses.
Anything to support the Darts and make up for the loss of fundraising activities of the DFCSA in recent times.

Please don't forget that if you want to have a fun night out, DFCSA have our first post-Covid race night at 6pm in the Princes Suite on Saturday. If you're a member, you get two free bets for the evening.

These are a real money-spinner for the Association, and the last one (the week before lockdown) helped us to continue supporting the Club through the pandemic when we couldn't do any of our normal fundraising. They are also a fun night!

The Supporters’ Association held their first Race Night since March 2019 in the Princes Suite on the 9th October 2021, following the 1-0 win over Hungerford Town.

The winning sponsors/owners of the races are as follows:

Race 1: John Pugh, James Hawkins, Mick Mancini, Barry Bell & Lee Davis
Race 2: Fred Bonnett, DFC Women’s Team, Mick Austin, Chris Vint & Rob Taylor
Race 3: Peter French, Darren Newton, Tom Davenport, Dave Phillips & Peter Houseman
Race 4: Sharron Stocker, Graham Poynter, Mark Wells, Rags Sandhu & Mick Austin
Race 5: Colin & Karen Sparrow, Scott McKinnon, Steve Irving & John Hallet
Race 6: Phil Wells, Mick How, Matt Pearson & Mike Saunt.
Race 7: Steve Button, Graham Poynter, Albert Martin & Ivan Coleman.
Race 8: James Irving, Matt Pearson, Terry Pease & Norman Grimes
Race 9: Ian White, Steve Smith, Phil Wells, Jeremy Kite, Sean Holland, Peter French, Dave Francis & Nick Coombes

Tricast:
Race 3: £75 – Mick Austin
Race 6: £75 – Geoff Ashburn

Syndicate for Auction Race:
Race 9: £340 to the winning owners who were: Team Sparrow

Jackpot Accumulator: £60 for winner
Paul Leonard, Tom Bonner & Debbie Trott shared the prize!

Huge thanks to both the Men’s First Team and the Women’s First Team for attending, to everyone who bought a horse or a race and everyone who turned up to support the event. These race nights are our big fund-raisers twice a year and they help us to fund various different projects across DFC. Early indications are that we have raised over £4,000 but when the full amount is calculated, we will report it through the various DFC channels.

Looks like an excellent result to be raising £4k. Is that a record as I think Mick Austen was looking for 3k at least. Well done Mike and everybody else involved in organising the event, and to those supporting the night. Recognise a lot of the winners names on the prize list.
Looks like James Hawkins was quick out of the blocks after his commentary duties too as he was one of the winners listed in the first race.

Please don't forget, we have our monthly Quiz Night tonight in the Champions Bar from 7pm.

Mick Austin has also asked me to "politely" remind you that we have our latest Race Night on the 5th March 2022, and he will be opening all sorts of sales/sponsorships in the very near future.
