Obviously, you can't fault our lads as they did everything required and got a thoroughly comprehensive result. But to be honest, this game did nothing for the integrity of the league. I have the utmost respect for their remaining players, who had to endure the humiliation, but I have no respect whatsoever for their club. The whole concept of promotion and relegation is integral to our sport and Mickey Mouse clubs arbitrarily opting to take a step down undermines the entire league structure. Of course, they'll almost certainly occupy a genuine relegation spot now that they have off-loaded their better players but how their owner can keep a straight face when calling this a revolution rather than a relegation is beyond me. The entire match was a farce, ended only when the ref clearly took pity on them and blew up early with zero stoppage time. In fact it was exactly 90m 03s by our clock, and though I understand the human side of that decision, it's not the professional thing to do. The extra 3-5 mins that was undoubtedly due, could have resulted in an 8th or even 9th goal which might just possibly have made a difference between Darts making the play-offs in a few weeks time. Of course our rivals would justifiably argue that Hashtag deliberately decimating their own team was how we came to get seven in the first place and they too would be right. In that moment, the ref became complicit in undermining the league, albeit for humane reasons. Of course, the ref would undoubtedly claim that for the first time all season there wasn't any time to add. I don't expect this sort of nonsense outside of pub football.
