4 wins in the Cup so far it seems for AFC Sudbury. Cockfosters 2-1 A; Potton United 1-0 A; Stowmarket Town 1-0 A after 0-0 H; Cheshunt Town 1-0 H.

4th in league after 6 games 1w,1d,1l at home; 3 wins away.

Having recently uncovered an air raid shelter in my back garden I might put in an offer for it. Add a little extra authenticity to the Airbnb experience 😁

Away from home against a team from a lower league. Perfect.

The only disappointment is that I have been to the ground previously.

Bring it on.

We celebrated like the ball was in and the ref gave it.

We literally convinced the ref it was in with our celebration lol

Taunton Dart wrote: Mon Oct 04, 2021 5:01 pm I remember the trip to Sudbury really well and speaking to Ron and Roz who were adamant that the ball had not crossed the line as they were standing watching from the touch-line. This is the first time that I had seen the film of the match and am amazed looking at it that the match officials came up with the decision that it was a goal! But the history books clearly show that Brendan Cass scored - so, as the cricketers say, just look in the book!

Sudbury were great hosts and I wonder whether their supporters still have that air-raid siren........
I was wondering about the siren too lol. We made some noise that day! Could barely talk on the way home...

Sudbury will be well up for this game, and they seem to be going well this season with only one league defeat and could go equal top of the league if they win their game in hand. So there will be a confidence in their side, even if we do enter the game as favourites.

They have had a couple of 400+ gates this year, so they might have hopes of seeing 1000 come through the turnstiles for the game, given that the victors will see themselves into the first round proper draw.

Oh how I love these earlier rounds of the FA Cup.

I would imagine Sudbury will be delighted with the draw , with another possible 4 to 500 Darts fans making the trip to Suffolk ? The local pubs will be rubbing their hands for the inevitable onslaught ? and hopefully the catering at the ground will be a bit more adventurous than the dross what was on offer at Maidstone ? Chips ,Chips or Chips 😏

Peter Martin has asked me to notify you that the Sudbury club house will be closing at 6.30 on the night of the game as they have a previously booked function, so I said I would pass it on.

Our infamous Brendan Cass "goal" at Sudbury was undeniably the worst goal-line decision I have ever seen. For those that didn't see it, let's just say it was a couple of feet farther out than Geoff Hurst's infamous World Cup final "goal". I found it hilariously funny at the time, but in all honesty it was a travesty and they had every right to be very peeved about it.

I imagine it will be a very tough game on Saturday but hopefully we won't need a leg up from the referee to progress. Our team is absolutely smoking at the moment so you have to be confident, but Sudbury will be up for it so we must not take anything for granted, especially as they have achieved 9 clean sheets in their last 10 games. That is impressive by anyone's standards. It's 55 years since I started supporting the Darts and beating a league club is still on my bucket list. But first we have to negotiate this hurdle and as we know, in a one-off game in the FA Cup, anything can happen ... especially if you underestimate your opponents.

Keep the dream alive fellas.

Whoever wins this game won't have long to wait to find out who their opponents will be in the First Round Proper:-

"The draw was revealed during Tuesday night’s England vs Hungary international and will take place on ITV between 1:05pm to 1:35pm on Sunday 17th October".
