Any idea who the trialist was that scored our 2nd goal & did he look useful?
Seemed to take his goal well & a well taken penalty from Louis Atkins. I like the way he brought the ball down before getting the pen.
A very good result tonight well done Ben & the team.

Still only 18 years old and describes himself as good with both feet and likes to take on players down the wing, loan spell at Concord last season sounds like a good prospect maybe another signing based on last night’s game.WillDfc42 wrote: Wed Jul 08, 2026 12:00 amOwen moore previously of Colchester Uniteds academy. The 5th Searcher wrote: Tue Jul 07, 2026 10:52 pm Any idea who the trialist was that scored our 2nd goal & did he look useful?

Let's hope we are already beginning to gel as a squad. Good reports from Steve and Kev already getting the goals in. Well done to both and all who endured the heat.
And Well Done the Lads.

Another good interview.

It's refreshing to listen to a manager's interview and not find myself getting depressed and/or angry. For the past 4 seasons all we ever heard was moaning about the budget and a whole host of reasons why we should lower our expectations. Was it any surprise that people were less inclined to be upbeat and supportive? I don't know how the coming season will go, but it's bloody wonderful to have our squad all sorted so early and packed full of ambitious players who actually want to be here. It's a big squad, 25 if last night's trialist joins too, so I'm sure a few will have to go out on loan, but there is a very good feeling around the team and Ben's eloquence and positivity is infectious. There are no guarantees in football, but at least we are starting out with positive vibes and I'm going to run with that all the while I can.

Considering I receive the majority of my information about the club via the club’s media since moving house, it is indeed refreshing to listen to Ben. I gave up on the previous two managers as they were so depressing that I had the Samaritans on speed dial.Spike wrote: Wed Jul 08, 2026 12:09 pm It's refreshing to listen to a manager's interview and not find myself getting depressed and/or angry. Anyway, I think Ben will prove to be a shrewd appointment as manager especially with his great knowledge of the academy and football scene around Kent. There are plenty of quality, driven youngsters out there that are looking to progress and Ben looks like the man to tap into that. And with the backing of many ex Darts with considerable coaching experience amongst his support staff, the fellas will receive 100% support from the terraces (and me on Twitter
Looking forward to seeing what the new fixture list throws up in the next couple of weeks.

Results don't matter at this stage and on that point I agree with him. But he still needed the boo hoo it's not fair.

That Trialist looked smart and tricky. Even at the end he was chasing back.
Ben talks a good interview and even i was taken in by Ade at first but as last season went on he got so predictable with his interviews.
I can't wait to see our lads playing.

My only concern is the pitch, it don’t look great and we have played on it twice now and the goal mouths are cutting up already!

I saw that for the Charlton game! Very strange. And the corner at the Academy/Princes Road looked dreadful.Undercover Elephant wrote: Thu Jul 09, 2026 8:26 pm My only concern is the pitch, it don’t look great and we have played on it twice now and the goal mouths are cutting up already!

I mentioned the pitch as well at the Charlton game, it doesn't look as good at this stage as in previous seasons but unless we've got some "other" games on it the first team are not scheduled to play on it again for a couple of weeks

Not sure when the groundsman could start working on it though as although our last game was on the 25th of Apr, the Music Festival was "scheduled" for the 24th of May so he may not have been able to work on it before then? And that is surely not enough time?
