Ady Departs

Re: Ady Departs
Of course it was Ady's own decision to go, there wasn't a cat in hell's chance of him being sacked as I doubt the board would have even regarded this season as a failure. All the signs would suggest the club would view the season as being reasonably okay, because I don't believe they aspire to much more than where we are. The real question is not about who the next manager is, but whether or not the board itself has the ability or the drive to take the club forward.
In fairness to Ady, he did remarkably well last season, but that only made it reasonable to assume he'd do better in this one, having a solid base from which to progress. However, this year we went backwards and from a fan's perspective it was underwhelming and very disappointing. Ady seems a decent guy and I have mixed emotions about his departure, however this is mostly because I lack confidence in the club's ability to find someone better.
I lost a lot of confidence in the board at our last shareholders meeting / AGM, when in my opinion, they cherry picked the stupidest questions they could find which I felt was done in order to discredit the fan base. Stuff like, "What have the directors done with all the money?" could only be asked by a complete idiot and were not worthy of a mention. There was and still is genuine concern that our club is fading away into obscurity yet there is no visible concern from the board, much less plans to do anything about it. I am not alone in thinking we need new investors and by that I mean investors, not sponsors. Of course we won't get significant investors all the while we have our 50 x £25 type A voting shares maximum. If someone wanted to invest say, £2 million, they'd only get £1250 worth of votes. A vote to change this would require 80% of the total type A shareholder votes cast, to be in favour. That is a massive majority which is unlikely all the while some people are scared to make that change for fear of being taken over by someone undesirable. I understand that is a risk, but there is also a chance that someone could come in and do a great job, so is it a bigger risk to do nothing and just sink lower and lower year by year? We should at least be having the discussion.
I think most fans are sensible enough to know that the club over-achieved when TB took us to 8th in the National league top flight, but we have fantastic facilities, a decent fan base and should be more than capable of competing in the National South. Anything less than that is under-achieving failure in my opinion.

Re: Ady Departs
Agree with Jonty about the budget, we aren't the biggest but we're certainly not the worse and have a competitive budget for the level we play at.
When a manager goes for an interview salary and budget are discussed and i'd be amazed and disappointed if promotion with the available funding wasn't discussed as well. So if they accept the job under those conditions they should get on with it and stop complaining. But the last two managers haven't and have continually moaned about it and imo the club should have told them to shut up as it creates a negative atmosphere and harms the club. Funny how the last two managers have failed and it's the budget, but TB and Kingy who were both very successful didn't? Work it out.
I was hoping Ady would have just left and not said anything but as he has, how about his recruitment? player selection? tactics? game management? Have they been the best? What about the Potters Bar fiasco as well? We can all blame other factors for failure but you should also take ownership of your own and i don't think he has. And don't forget the Buffoon was under budget for a while and Ady turned down more funds in January? What does that tell you?
IMO with a couple of decent additons to the current squad or just better management we could have easily made the play offs as we've got good results against the top sides but failed against the lower ones. Also poor results in the cup competitions against lower opposition doesn't imo point to budget, to me that's something else.
Hopefully as Ady is now going we will be able to retain some players as the rumour was a lot didn't want to play for him next season?
IMO the board need to start portraying the club in a much more positive manner as we have so many good things going for us but imo have let a few drag the whole mood down. However i do think the board needs a big shake up and some comments being attributuied to some are very concerning. So for me an outside investor would be a positive move, not just because of the fundiing it may bring but more importantly for their business acumen. We now need strong leadership on and off the pitch which i feel has been lacking in the last few years.
See you all tomorrow.
PS. I doubt Ady will have long to wait before he gets himself another job wth a bigger budget

Re: Ady Departs
The worrying thing for me is that an ok at best manager has decided that dartford don’t meet his expectations !
The board have been awful for some time and the club continues on a downward spiral at what point will they actually start looking in the mirror and making changes so that this club can move forward to where it belongs?
They did a great job of saving the club however they seem intent on taking it back to the grass routes football by not moving with the times. They will ruin this club if they continue however I genuinely believe they just don’t care they have there mates and it’s a boys club where everything is rosie

Re: Ady Departs
Whilst some are mentioning possible managers I would like to put my nomination forward. Hakan Hayrettin has not been working for a few months but I understand he is ready to return. He has been successful at various clubs such as Maidstone. Braintree Thurrock, Dulwich and Walthamstow and has been John Stills assistant at Luton when they were promoted from the national and Dagenham as well
I know he is very passionate as a manager which is replicated by his players and god forbid he is a coach that favours attacking football. Well worth a punt in my opinion

Re: Ady Departs
Thank you Ady for your efforts over the past two years. This extends to Roland as well. You were extremely close to an immediate return to the National South last season which would have been good going. As it was, DFC choked yet again in the playoff (final) and faltered too hard in the opening months of 25/26 to ultimately achieve anything. Sadly, the manager has to stand accountable for this as poor decision making cost us dearly. Both Pennock and Edge are decent guys who wanted nothing other than to do well here. In truth though, without the decent upturn in results in the second half of this season, we could have had a disaster.
Good luck in your next appointment gentlemen.

He failed at Dulwich, comes across as extremely arrogant in his interviews.
No thank you

Thankfully Sweetie is on my ignore list. Sadly, I see his idiotic posts when someone quotes them. If he is actually a Darts fan, which I doubt very much, nothing will ever make him happy and he’ll continue to stand alone at games with no friends and spout his trolling shit. I’m also fairly certain he’s on the spectrum somewhere. Poor f*cker.rambo wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2026 11:50 am Remarkable, I am playing a game called suggest a new manager and somehow you turn it into a negative a argument. You are something else mate. Hakan wouldn’t be my choice, do have to agree he comes across very arrogant and was very hated by Dulwich fans, who don’t even watch their games.
Top of my list would be Gavin Macpherson, previously of Enfield Town, knows how to get teams out of this league. Think Lee Bircham would be another very good option, won promotion to NLN with Bedford Town last season overachieving, will be departing after their final fixture.
The likes of Elekobi, Angelo Harrop and Tommy Widdrington all fit the bill, just think they’re too unrealistic atm with current circumstances at the club

Re: Ady Departs
I have come across a few regular DFC supporters
on my travels lately.
The one thing that keeps croping up is APATHY.
IT is such a shame but understandable
We have a great set up for this standard of football
But after another season of failure it is no surprise to me that some fans are unhappy with the powers that be.

Re: Ady Departs
Appointing an ex-player cutting his teeth at management level is very likely. After all, managers have to start somewhere.
An experienced manager in his latter years, winding down to retirement steady Eddie style, will be affordable.
However, as for hiring an ambitious manager forget it. The club would be unable to meet their expectations.
Atleast the club doesn't have to endure the expense of sacking a manager anymore. They end up walking away of their own accord now.
The first game was played at Princes Park in 2006 with the team eventually winning automatic promotion to the Isthmian (Ryman) Premier.
This was followed by flirting with success in the National League pyramid while trying to get away with maintaining the status quo, which would prove unsustainable. Basically the club set up has been found out and while our rivals continue to move on we have found our true level as an established Isthmian Premier League club. And it's only taken 20 years to achieve that. From Isthmian South to the Isthmian Premier League. It's been a marvellous achievement. Clubs like Bearsted and Bridon Ropes would give their right arm to be in our position. And let's spare a thought for VCD Athletic.
As others have said. Atleast we still have a football club.
