I agree. If the league wants additional play off games let’s have a 2 legged semi with the highest placed team at home in the second leg. And then the final at the highest placed of the two teams that make it. At least with 2 leg semis it gives the higher placed team a second opportunity if they blow out in the first game which often happens in the single game format. I remember the two semis against Basingstoke in the NLS playoffs which were terrific entertainment and as it turned out we won both games anyway.DartfordHero wrote: Mon Jan 12, 2026 12:04 pm I personally really dislike the new play off system they've pushed into the national leagues and now seemingly we are going to adopt. It just rewards being mediocre and giving a team who finished in 7th PLACE a chance for promotion. Thats not right. Its all about the leagues getting more income and money/spotlight because they have additional play off games. Theres no benefit to 2nd or 3rd either I feel like going into a play off game cold when the other team has already won a game to get to that stage
Rewarding a 7th placed team in a 22 team league is ludicrous. There’s always a possibility that team could have been struggling against relegation a couple weeks previous!
