This is not looking like a team that took an 8-0 defeat on Saturday. Looking a tad sharper than we are at the mo.
But we are knocking it about confidently.

I see that Folkestone scored in the second minute at the Crabble - shows how score-lines can be skewed at this time of the season. I hope that Potters Bar are not going to stop us winning tonight!

HT 0-1.
Played a lot of long balls early on to no effect.
Potters Bar then grew in confidence and took the lead.
Chalk & Cheese to our first half performance at Cray Valley PM on Saturday.

Too confidently in my opinion. They are sharper and look as if they want it.
We may be knocking it around but we look lumbersome.

Blinking flip! After such promising flair in pre-season and that first half against Cray Valley - it’s as though someone has flicked the ‘off’ switch. Come on Darts. This team is capable of good stuff!

What a disappointment that was 🧐

New team still finding its feet but first 65 mins was so lacklustre

Our number 3 looks very good and 21 the new signing sharp too but we need to sort it out

So sad to see us like this now after last season

The team tonight would have been smashed by our ishmian title winning team of 2010

Oh well -things change but it’s a long journey back to Matlock for me

Gutted and hardly recognised fans/people in the sparse crowd

We gotta to give it time tho so need to beat Canvey now

I understand we need a bit of time to gel but that didn't look anything like a team with potential if I'm honest. It looked like a team that went out for the first time together tonight and not one that's had a pre season and a match together.

Constant misplaced passes, midfield completely non Existent and when we did get into the final third we did nothing to trouble their keeper. Feel like I'm repeating myself from last season a bit..

One thing that stood out to me was our lack of height and therefore no threat in the air. We must've had a good 10 corners or so and apart from the final one at the end we did not win a single header, and there was also nobody picking up the second ball so we looked like we would constantly get countered.

The ref wasn't the greatest, he bottled a clear sending off but that's not the reason we lost the game

Our lack of depth is a major concern. Only making 1 sub when we have 5 available while chasing the game is striking. Hopefully a few of the injured lads are back soon

Pennock not acknowledging the fans doesnt sit right with me.

Will be a long season if that's something to go by.

Oh well, onto Canvey.

Arrived full of expectation and left very disappointed from a lack-lustre performance from our new team. We showed very little goal threat and our set piece delivery and tactics provided little cheer, even though the corner count must have been near to double figures. I am not sure that we would have scored even if the keeper from Saturday had retained his place.

Only two teams have won both matches to date and it is possible that it will be a very close league where every weekend throws up unexpected outcomes. Winning home matches is important and a big improvement is needed before Saturday.

First half awful and I honestly couldn’t see anything that looked remotely like a top 6 side.

Second half better and if we would have converted the sitter that was missed when 1-1 just after the restart it would have been a different end result I think! How he didn’t even get it on target I don’t know….

Number 21 looked good when he came on and Oly played well I thought being a constant threat. Sam O grew into the game and always had space but it was only Josh Hill who was spraying balls into the wing areas everyone else seemed to want to go back to the keeper.

Great noise from the crowd second half and a good turnout after last season however can we really keep the youngsters interested if we don’t put in the effort on the pitch, last 20-30 mins was what needs to be delivered for the full 90

First half was disappointing as on the back of an 8-0 defeat i thought we would have taken the game to Potters Bar right from the off but we sat back a bit too much for my liking and played too many long balls. They inevitably grew in confidence and got what proved to be the only goal of the game. As far as i can remember we only had one effort on target 1st half.

We improved second half but for all our efforts we just lacked a bit of quality and composure at the crucial moments as we created a few decent chances, but again i can only recall one on target.

Didn't make use of the corners and free kicks we had as too many were not put into the right areas and i never really felt we had enough control in the centre of the pitch so we could dictate the play for longer periods.

New signing Eddie Dsane looked lively and promising but feel we are still a few pieces missing with one being a pacey winger who can get behind teams and offer something different.

Not the best Birthday Present i've ever had but early days and i've said all along i feel it will be a month or two for things to settle down, just really frustrating tonight as if we had played anywhere near to the level we did 1st half Saturday, i feel we could have won this game.

Shout out for the fans tonight who turned up in decent numbers and got behind the team throughout.
