going to need some double headers the way these two are going
I can see a club, if they are still due to play both away, playing on consecutive days to reduce stress and travel - I remember teams in the past playing away matches on a Saturday and Sunday if they involved travelling to the same part of the country. It makes more sense than having a pre-season friendly for team bonding purposes in the North East

Truro City have just announced a change of venue for their home match on Saturday against Taunton Town. This game was due to be played at Wordsworth Drive, home of Taunton, but has now been moved to Gloucester City's ground. Truro have cited the horrendous weather forecast for the next couple of days in the west country for the move.

When was the last time, if ever, that a NLS match was played on a NLN club's ground? For sure it is a massive journey (200 miles) for any Truro supporters to get to see a 'home' match!

Gloucester will surely be sympathetic to the waterlogged pitch situation, but that is an incredible distance for a home game relocation! Where’s next for Truro? Telford? Gateshead?!

Todays results went quite well for us - Dover, Eastbourne and Taunton losing and Welling only getting a draw.
If they all continue like that we should be OK!

Apparently Truro had approached Dorchester to use their ground and were quoted £4k for pitch hire - Gloucester City offered their ground for only £300 - hence the choice of venue. Other clubs in the South West either had matches themselves or weren't interested in helping.

Couple of cracking games on tonight, unfortunately not at the part of the table we are, but very interesting none the less.

Truro will again be playing their next "home" game at Gloucester's ground. The match against Chelmsford City will take place this Saturday evening with a 7.30 ko.

Taunton v Slough tonight already OFF surprise surprise!!
Their pitch (& the fact Truro have decided to play there) could have a deciding factor in the Darts staying out of the bottom 4 come the seasons end??

And it goes from bad to worse for Taunton Town

https://tauntontown.com/featured-news/c ... WW3dpCfZdM

This link is crashing at the moment due to the large number of people trying to access it - basically Taunton have only paid players a proportion of their pay for February, can't pay the HMRC as agreed and have not paid other staff. All due to the last 5 home games being postponed exacerbating their financial crisis. They even admit that the winding up order will be back on the table.

I think you'll find that the club didn't put any money in to the bar - it was paid for by the brewery involved and the cider company as a local sponsorship deal. At least, since the Chairman has been taken ill, others have stepped up to the plate to try to improve things. Also with the ground in this area totally saturated, and the pitch on an old tip sealed in clay, I am not sure what money could productively be spent on the pitch at the moment until the ground dries sufficiently. Anybody on the pitch makes the situation worse - just look at the tyre tracks. (Sorry I'm talking from experience as an ex-groundsman) (Their only solutions are either a 4G pitch or raising the pitch level to put in drainage, the latter a non-starter as the terracing & stands would be too low down)
