The Kuwaiti Chairman of Ebbsfleet for the last 10 years Abdullah al-Humaidi has stood down after being declared Bankrupt recently. His cousin will take over the job, let's hope he likes football. The family of course are involved in the proposed Theme Park which appears to have collapsed.

Here's the news article and club statement:-

Dr Abdulla Al-Humaidi has resigned as Ebbsfleet United chairman - but the club insist it’s business as usual.

Dr Abdulla has been in the role for more than 10 years but was declared bankrupt by London’s High Court last month.

He has been replaced at Stonebridge Road by his cousin, Abdullah Al-Humaidi, one of two new directors who were added to the club board at the end of November.

A statement from Ebbsfleet United stated: “The club can confirm this afternoon that we have accepted the resignation of Dr Abdulla Al-Humaidi from the role of chairman of the football club and as a Director – but supporters can be assured this does not change his family’s ownership model or intentions for Ebbsfleet United now or in the long-term.

“Earlier this month, two new directors from the Al-Humaidi family (Abdullah and Abdulrahman) were added to the club board and Dr Abdulla will be passing the reins of chairman across to his cousin Abdullah Al-Humaidi.

“He has taken the decision to stand down formally from the role of chairman after 10 years in that position for personal reasons and to allow other family members to bring their additional involvement and expertise to bear on the club board.

“The family remain committed to their ownership, funding and long-term future of the club and that position remains unchanged despite the appointment of a new chairman.

“Dr Abdulla will continue to be as involved and passionate in watching the team from the directors’ box as he has been across the past decade and the club thanks the Al-Humaidi family for their continued and unwavering commitment to EUFC.”

Under Dr Abdulla’s stewardship, Ebbsfleet twice won promotion from National League South. They were promoted via the play-offs after beating Chelmsford in the final in May 2017 and then won the title by a staggering 20 points last season.

The club were demoted at the end of the 2019/20 season on points per game, the season cut short due to the Covid pandemic.

Ebbsfleet also reached the FA Cup First Round on four occasions and the Second Round last season, when they lost to Fleetwood Town in front of the live television cameras at Stonebridge Road.
