Enjoy watching the lads John as they are very good for their age , trouble is virtually none of them over the years have become anywhere near a regular for the Darts 1st team , 2/3 have gone on to play League football but only I we got a fee for so unlike Chelsea who make a lot of money from their Academy we dont have the same luck !!!

I appreciate that everyone is entitled to an opinion Duke, but in order to form one you first have to be aware that the academy actually MAKES money for the club, it doesn't come at a cost at all. In fact it has made a significant amount of money for the club over the years since it was first put in place. So even if it never produced a single player for our club, financially it would still be a worthwhile venture. In truth, it has been very successful in developing players as there are more than a few who have made appearances for our first team and dozens who have gone on to play for other clubs. The latter may not be of interest to Darts' fans, but it certainly will have been for the players themselves, not to mention their families, all of whom will have gained an awareness of our club. There are literally hundreds upon hundreds of family members attached to the lads in the academy, all of whom now have a connection to this club. This helps promote the club and leads to possible new supporters. The whole enterprise is a massive success and there is not one single negative aspect that I can think of. We should be proud of it and singing it's praises from the rooftops, not calling for it to be shut down.

Former Darts academy player Martial Godo, who is on loan at Wigan from Fulham, has been called up to the England under 20 squad for their forthcoming matches against Italy and Germany.

Martial Godo earned his first England cap when he came on as a second half substitute in tonight's 3-0 defeat against Italy. I wonder if he is the first player to come through the academy to win an England cap?.

Havant have had to have a bit of a clear out from what I hear to lower their wage bill.
