Ok not for football, but from next Monday for a covid jab. Appointments for 3pm on some Saturdays could prove popular.

Well that would make sense, plenty of standing room for waiting at the academy end, through the turnstiles with a quick jab, walk out via the wooden man and out the car park end. Just waiting to be called now !

Took my ninety-two year-old father to the club this evening for his first inoculation. I have to congratulate all those involved in the planning and execution of the temporary vaccination centre. Our visit ran like clockwork and everybody was was friendly and helpful.

Before leaving we were given our follow up appointment at the same time on Saturday 10 April. Considering the set-up and the need for a constant flow of cars both in and out, I doubt that the ground could host an attended match very easily whilst still functioning as a vaccination centre for the very elderly in our local community.

My guess is that we might be able to see some action in the run up to Easter, subject to national restrictions, as those arriving for inoculations become gradually younger and more mobile. However, we may find that we are then unable to attend, or numbers may be restricted further once our most elderly citizens return for their second inoculation after Easter. With luck, we might be operating more normally in May, the last month of the season.

This is purely speculation on my part. Even if our viewing is restricted for a little longer, I congratulate the club for their involvement with this incentive. We are a community club and this is a great way to help the local community.

Let us hope our club has helped to turn the tide against the virus.

That's really good to hear, well done to the club and all involved.
This is our best and probably only way out of this terrible situation we are all in.

Keep up the good work.

Back to PP today for me. The 'phone rang just after 9 this morning and it turned out to be Jack from DFC. There were some late vacancies for Covid jabs and would I like to take up the offer of filling one of them. Naturally I said yes and was booked in for 12-05pm. I was offered the chance as the club had my details as a season ticket holder, once I confirmed I was age qualified and hadn't already got a jab booked elsewhere I was on the list.
Well done DFC.

Top marks to the club for the quick thinking.

I am a little surprised if the Health Service team had run out of names on their list. Great news if all the over 80s have now received their first 'jab', but it would make us a country leading borough if that were the case. Let us hope that those who receive a call are able to travel to PP safely. If I did not live locally, my father would not have been able to attend.

Whatever difficulties they are encountering, everybody involved in this initiative deserves our heart-felt thanks.
