It is with a heavy heart I must announce the sad passing of a long term fan, John Hoverd. John had been a loyal fan for as many years as I can remember at pretty much any level of match at the Club. I got to know him quite well through watching the U18's about 20 years ago, and took a little while to warm to his sense of humour and his "moaning" but he was a lovely man who just loved his football. He would come up and watch any match that a Dartford team were playing in, including women and Academy.
He will be sorely missed. RIP John.

That’s really sad news as, like many on here, I’ve known John for more years than I can remember. I recall, when we were groundsharing at Gravesend, in the days before Princes Park came to fruition, John used to stand with another raconteur called Howard Robinson. The pair of them were great company. They used to share their thoughts on the Dartford team plying their trade which wasn’t normally very complimentary. We weren’t very good then. And in those days the crowds were about 300, so every comment was heard by anyone within a 50 yard radius; including the players. They soon earned the nicknames of Waldorf and Statler, the pair of old duffers from The Muppets that delighted in ripping the ar*e out of Fozzie Bear every week.
RIP, John, enjoy your reunion with your old sparring partner In the balcony seats.

Is this John who stands on the Wooden Man side of the pitch by the half way line? Wears a flat cap with a beard and glasses, and what he doesn't know about DFC isn't worth knowing?
If it is then that's so very sad indeed and, being deprived of his beloved football since March too, a hugely tragic passing of one of the club's greatest characters.

Oh wow, this is awful news. John was a great character and a loyal and dedicated Dartford fan. Yes, he loved to have a moan, but that was just part of his character and the truth is you'll struggle to find many people more committed to the Darts. He supported this club at every level and he will be sorely missed. He was a great guy and the terraces won't be the same without him. So sad to hear this news.
RIP John.
