What a crap tie

I've said it before and I will say it again - it's 2020 and we've had the same awful club neck tie for about 200 years. What's with the red and off white stripes? Come on Dartford, Xmas is coming - I'm sure there's enough of us suit wearers that would be proud to wear a decent DFC tie to work. Please.

The team wore red and white stripes until 1939. The off white may be a nod to big baggy white shirts worn after the war that had a definite washed out grey tinge by the time I started watched the Darts mid 50's. They went well with the washed out black shorts, the excitement of seeing my team in crisp white shirts and actual black shorts for the first time was a real thrill. We were easily pleased back in those days.

The tie was updated about six (maybe even longer) years ago. I much prefer this recent one to the older one.

The white stripes are too dominant, I guess that its a polyester type too. Personally, I always wear a silk type but this generally makes the tie more expensive. Maybe the club could run a competition for the local schools to design a new tie, just as we did for a shirt a few seasons back.

Agree, it is a tiny bit better but then the yellow writing?! I'm with Jonty re silk ties but not sure any club sells silk ones. Still think it needs revisiting.

The Tie was redesigned and updated in 2013, to coincide with our 125th Anniversary. Maybe we should have a new DFC silk mask, these days?

When I saw this thread I thought we had drawn a bad tie in the FA Trophy, what a relief. LOL
