Oh cripes, we're good aren't we, we're really, really good. I've never seen us so prepared, so early and with such a talented squad but with things changing all the time, I'm terrified it's all going to be brilliant and we're not going to be there to see it. I don't recall us ever having a squad this strong and I've been a regular for more than half a century. The TV streaming is all well and good, but it doesn't really do it for me. I wouldn't mind so much if the Covid restrictions made any sense. Nobody is ever going to convince me that a pub full of people knocking back booze is less of an infection risk than standing in the open air on the terraces.

It’s ridiculous Spike. Nobody is going to convince me that it’s anything other than ‘flu with a different name, considering all the daily headlines are about how difficult it is to get tested / businesses collapsing / lockdown restrictions, etc. What’s the single thing missing from the news? Anybody actually bloody dying. The toilet paper thing was a portent that the whole world is ready to act like sheep and believe whatever is written on the internet.
I’m going to watch the highlights now and probably end up with dissonant feelings about the start of the season as per the reasons above.

Have I missed something? Why is it that every preseason, trialists are listed, and reported, as just that. Trialist. Sky always say, “trialist A, trialist b...” etc and even come up on their ‘ticker tape’ banner at the bottom of the screen. Now ‘we’ have it in our own (brilliant by the way) pre-season match commentary.

Why can’t they use their names? Is it summat to do with contracts?

Finally, can I get a game then?

I think it’s because if a player is on trial with a club they don’t want other clubs trying to poach them away.
If the players name isn’t mentioned then nobody knows who is trialling & where.

Just a guess anyway.
