Had to venture further afield today than I have done for a while, due to needing to having some essential regular medical checks. For someone of my age it was like the Sunday mornings of years ago, very few people and little traffic about. It would get busier as the day went on with days out and plenty of amateur sport, but expect this afternoon will be as quiet as it was this morning. So instead of waiting to see how the Darts get on the only results I waiting on are mine. Hope everyone is keeping well and cheerful and those in isolation aren't finding the days too long.

That’s weird. I walked from Dartford centre to Slade Green this afternoon and couldn’t believe how busy it was! Guess it just depends where you were.

Tim Brooke Taylor succumbs to Covid19.

And Stirling Moss races past the chequered flag. Unrelated death.
Probably both history by now, but have just heard it here. :(

Unfortunately it seems Peter Bonetti did not have 9 lives after all

Matt Hancock has now said that Coronavirus isn’t going away despite the miracle vaccine and that hopefully, by the end of year, we can “live with it like the flu”.

Virologist Dr. Sarah Pitt disagrees, stating “It’s not a type of flu. It’s not the same sort of virus. It doesn’t cause the same sort of disease, it’s very, very nasty.”

Good job then, that ‘normal influenza’ is nothing but a mild irritation and doesn’t claim any lives. That was certainly the case this winter, as the WHO declared ‘normal influenza’ all but gone. What an incredible coincidence. So hopefully we will just have the world’s collapsed economy to deal with by the end of 2021 while we treat the entirely different - not even ‘flu variant - virus the same as we did before.

At least when today’s game is inevitably postponed, it will be for a marginally less avoidable reason.

Remain safe, avoid the nasty virus.
