DFC Women's Team Thread

Post by Gary C »

After their 2-2 draw last weekend, the DFC Women went to Denham United today, winning 4-3, with the goals coming from Sarah White (2), Emily Read and Shauni Griffiths. They will be playing next Sunday (1st September) on the main pitch against Hackney in the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup, 2pm kick off. I believe it's free entry so come along and support another DFC side.

I am really looking forward to supporting the DFC Women at Princes Park tomorrow - loved sponsoring the Ladies the other season, when frankly the Club didn't really put into the Women's football and it cost my company a fair bit, which now that they are doing £50 and £40 sponsors to help the team makes me realise I was rinsed! Never mind, I am proud of the fact that maybe that sponsorship was a turning point, for the Board & DFC as a whole to respect and put Women's football on the agenda. All the best to the Ladies tomorrow - I'll be cheering you on.

Women won 5-0 today. Goals for Sarah White, Megan Mansfield, Rachel Stevens, Alicia Gibbs and Issy Michalski. In the hat for the next round, which is yet to be drawn. The score flattered Hackney, and it could have been double figures. Attendance was 130

I've been watching women's football quite a lot recently. Mainly Charlton and several trips to the Dripping Pan supporting Lewes.
I don't know her name, but I was very impressed with the Dartford no.6 playing down the right wing yesterday afternoon.
Definitely Championship material, leading to hopefully the WSL.

6 is Emily Read.

The Women are at home next weekend to Ashford Town, 2pm on the 3G pitch at Princes Park. The Champions Bar will be open and, I believe, the food hatch will also be open.

It's really good that Dartford fc has a decent Women team, very positive. Hope they carry on winning and all the positive media and exposure it will bring to the club.

Just an idea, but I would be happy to contribute financially, even if it's towards the Fish and Chips after the game, I'm sure a few other DFC fans would do this also. Just need someone to pm me.

Regards to all.

Don't get confused London City Lionesses are playing Leicester Ladies on the main pitch today in the Women's Super League 2 also with a 2-00pm k.o..
The Lionesses have replaced Millwall Ladies which hasn't gone down well as the Millwall Supporters Club stumped up around £18k 18 months ago to stop them going out of business. A New Lionesses club has been started by the supporters.
There is a classy advert in our programme for London City, which strangely doesn't give kick off times, where the matches are being played and one game is advertised for Sunday 25th September, a date that doesn't exist. Not very impressive, anyway good luck to them, the rent is useful for the Darts, and the new Millwall Ladies team. Didn't see any posters around the ground or hear any announcements for this game yesterday.
More importantly good luck to the Darts this afternoon and for the rest of the season.
