Group consisted of: Dartford,Barking,Bromley,Welling
Did Dartford win the group and qualify for the next stage?

81/82

Group consisted of: Dartford and who else?
Did Dartford win the group and qualify for the next stage?

82/83

Group consisted of: Dartford,Basildon,Bromley,Grays
Did Dartford win the group and qualify for the next stage?

83/84

When we were compiling the Club's history book "Princes Among Men" (copies still available), a lot of the information was not complete due to the competition being used mainly as a Reserve competition/weakened sides.

In 1980/81, DFC's results were a 1-1 draw against Bromley (H), a 2-3 defeat against Welling United (H) and Bromley (A), a 1-3 defeat against Welling (A), an 8-2 win at home to Barking, and a 1-3 defeat away to Barking. There's no further matches so it seems DFC did not qualify.

There was nothing recorded for the other years, including matches/results.

I've asked some others to have a look through their records too though

Thanks a lot for that.

That's one season done.

It would be nice to know if Dartford took part at least, but I realise details can be hard to find.

If this EFL competition was being played in the 1980s, what was the competition my Dad and I used to watch the Reserves play in in the 1950s?/1960s? The Metropolitan League? I believe we won it one year?

I believe the Eastern Floodlight League ran from 64/65 to 05/06.
A pretty impressive run.

Your right,DFC won it in 79/80.

But you may be thinking of the the Metropolitan League.
DFC reserves did the league and cup double in 61/62.

I think this is what you are remembering:

I suspect that this was around the time when John Ripley and Lew Cooper were tearing up opposition defences in this league :D

I get the EFL confused with the Mid-Surrey professional floodlit league, back in the days when Dartford was nominally in Mid-Surrey for 2 hours on the occasional Tuesday night. Or did I just make that up?

A bit of an update for anyone who is interested.

Dartford played in the 82/83 Eastern Floodlight League,in a group containing Basildon United,Bromley and Grays Athletic

Four of the six group results are as follows:

21/8/82 Bromley (a) 0-2
7/12/82 Grays Athletic (a) 2-1
21/12/82 Bromley (h) 5-1
5/1/83 Grays Athletic (h) 1-6

I know its a long shot, but would anyone know the results v Basildon United ?
I'd then be able to make up a final group table.
