You're right Marmite, you've said it before.

Arthur here.
I'm slightly tipsy I've had a long week firstly with the op and then today. But i wish to say to all the critics and knockers one word. Yes here it comes. Ready you knockers and critics here it is
Pughy
Add that boy to this team and i need say no more.
That's it from Arthur for today but remember where we would be with that boy playing. Now if anyone says any different then get down Stonebridge road and go. JC and Adam are sorting this. If pughy was playing in this team then where the hell would we be .
Let's all support everyone at DFC and stop criticising.
I'm off to bed I've had a really hard week and Phyllis is insisting I rest up at least I hope that's what's she saying.
My dear Mudders I hope to see you soon
Over and out
Arthur

Well after two encouraging performances on the spin, we were absolutely abysmal again today. It was an excellent turnout from the travelling Darts fans, but they didn't get any reward for their loyalty. Although bright and sunny, it was bitterly cold and an icy breeze made it even worse. The game started very slowly and was not pretty to watch. As the league table will testify, Truro are not a good side and for a while they looked eminently beatable, however Darts never managed to get control of the game and the first 30 mins were really quite dull. Then came an almighty cock-up between Vose and Wynter which handed Truro the lead. I thought Wynter could and should have cleared it but even so, maybe our keeper could have done a little better. From that point, we just threw in the towel. 2 more goals came in quick succession as well as Truro hitting the bar and missing out on a penalty when they were awarded a free-kick on the edge of the box for an offence that was clearly inside the area. Basically, we had a 10-15 minute spell where we fell to pieces and our players were arguing and blaming each other. It could so easily have been 5-0 at half-time. The second half was a complete non-event. Truro knew they had already won the game and we were never going to threaten to change that. This was such a disappointing showing after the last two performances. I really want to be positive but the only highlight for me was to see Ryno come on as sub and make the assist for Kudus to score his first goal.

I would also like to pass comment on the way visiting fans are treated at Stalag Torquay. The stewards were enforcing completely unnecessary segregation "rules" that were bordering on idiotic. They were personally escorting Dartford fans along the pitch one by one as we arrived, into the corner of the main stand. No standing was allowed and despite the freezing cold and the long and arduous journey, no tea bar facilities were provided in our area. They seemed surprised, firstly that we were there at all and secondly that having travelled so far, a cup of coffee might be nice. Eventually they came up with a contingency plan and agreed that anyone wanting a coffee could ask a steward and they would then be escorted around the pitch to a place where they could buy one. I've never seen anything so ridiculous at a football match. One of the stewards told me that they had to enforce these rules because it was a designated ground. Even if that is true, which I doubt, it doesn't make it any less stupid. At a game where the stadium was only about 1% full, anyone with half a brain would have just kept out of the way and let people get on with it. Fans were arriving in good spirits and the odds of any trouble were probably around 10,000 to 1, but nonsense like this just antagonises people and is more likely to CAUSE friction rather than prevent it.

All in all, it was a miserable, very expensive and disappointing weekend.

It appears that the official attendance given for this match was 87?

What a shame we lost! If there are any positives, hope we take them and move on to try and win next game. Have to say that I'm baffled by some of the reactions at the moment. Fans usually are happy when we win and sad when we lose, this has nothing to do with not wanting the club to do well. Sad to hear also how the fans were treated, hope the club is going to complain on their behalf?

Whether you go to all the games, go to a few or just one, don't claim the moral high ground and belittle fans that have supported the club for years and have contributed much more than just paying to see games, crikey, if the teams not playing well or not getting a result, then for me its more than fair enough to have a moan, this does not equate to not supporting the team, management or anyone else.

I really hope that we end up with some success this season, one things for sure, fans stay loyal, they still support and contribute long after others have gone to pastures new.....

I couldn't make the game yesterday as we have builders/decorators in working all over the weekend at home and on this occasion I'm grateful that I didn't make the trek down to Torquay.
Well done to all those fans that made the game and for those returning the same day I bet it was a quiet journey home and for those staying overnight the perfect excuse to get p***ed and drown those sorrows over what appears to have been a very poor performance by the team.

Kebabus (Greg) summed up perfectly how i feel about the criticism of fans and their opinions and comments when voiced here and others questioning our loyalty and support for the Darts.
He can remember how along with the likes of Mad Mod (Martin) The Last Dictator (Matt)
The Duke (Dave) The 5th Searcher (Matt)and myself and how we were tapped up by Tommy Sampson for contributions to secure the signing of Eddie Mac. which was successful.
We also helped out along with several others with contributions to help pay towards Kwashi's wages.
The supplying of prizes and the running of the raffles and selling golden goals whilst as nomads at Stonebridge Road and other efforts by many of us along the way, plus from day one at Princes park all part of the support for The Darts by so many people along the way.
At age 70 with around 65 years supporting myself and other fans with even better records, but all of us around that age group, some unfortunately no longer with us, we are just grateful that we are around for any home or away game.
I stated we were crap at Oxford but cannot comment on this game but I can imagine that some might consider similar comments about our performance yesterday.
But whatever the comments never doubt or question our loyalty and support for The Darts

Dartford are a sixth division team, how many times in their hundred plus year history has it been fifth division or above? Last year they scored comfortably more goals than anyone in the league and no team won more games or got more points, they even had a good cup run and only a soppy league rule and a fix meant they didn't go up. Look at the history, last year was very good - if you live another quarter of a century you'll be able to count on one hand better seasons I sadly suspect, maybe one finger - it won't get any easier either. Madness, utter madness. We get what we deserve, as a whole, the minority have made sure of that.
I could have written exactly these words. Thank you.

That's a bit lower than I would have guessed, perhaps I was confused by the number of stewards and officials who maybe aren't in that total. I thought we had around 40+ Darts. The low attendance just emphasises how ridiculous the stewarding was.

At last a good write up re the match from Spike, or as I said in previous posts, No6.
I know our form is topsy-turvy but, it's not exactly up and down. We scrape wins and then LURCH to a pasting or no-show.
With the players/calibre we have taking to the pitch I feel this should not be happening. I know perhaps I'm out of line to be saying this, as thankfully I don't see all the games, but, when we lose this website lurches (along with the players) to from a 'ray of hope' to 'sack the management'.
I said from the start this season would be 'interesting'. But I didn't think it would be this interesting.
Up the Darts.

DA Mikey wrote:We were served up one hell of a turgid display today - I suspect that many fans were in the same boat as I in having only disgraced Plainmoor’s ground once before, staring relegation in the face as we were with an on-loan Jordan Chiedozie notching the equaliser in a 1-1 draw.
Well, how times change. Today’s game was tantamount to a training session with 22 hopefuls chasing a bag of wind before about 90 spectators.
The most flattering thing I can say is that Ryno put a decent corner in for Marko to head home. It was an incredibly strange atmosphere and not really in the twee sense. I think we are far enough through the season now to make statements about this squad being mediocre and uninspiring. Not something I have known before in supporting the Darts. Sorry to say that Charlie Sheringham doesn’t appear to be able to jump more than three inches off the ground.

Bit of a bastard, all told.

Who's Marko??
