I backed Hornchurch to win at Cray this afternoon. So imagine my disappointment when I saw the team sheet this evening. Hornchurch scored through an own goal. That was probably as good as it was going to get for them without a mobile striker up front. Biggest waste of space in non-league football. A mercenary with more clubs than Tiger Woods needs his surname shortened dramatically.

John Morton has aged well, hardly changed.
Morton was a class act, one of our best ever goalkeepers in my opinion. Kenny was a very good player too. Does anyone else remember when "Kenny wins it for Darts" was the headline plastered across the back of the Kent Evening Post? It went on to say how he'd played really well and scored the winner in an away game (I forget the opponents), but it was a great tribute to his performance. The only problem being that he hadn't actually played in the game and they'd got him mixed up with some bloke called Tony Burman. That was probably my second favourite gaffe, albeit some way behind the day that Radio Kent's reporter got the Cambridge City v Gravesend & Northfleet teams confused and spent the entire first half waxing lyrical over how Fleet were playing well and leading 1-0 when in fact it was Cambridge who were in front.

Cody McDonald has agreed with Ebbsfleet to cancel his contract signed in the summer. He has been unable to play since a knee injury ( cruciate ligament) suffered last season. The Ebbsfleet Secretary has paid tribute to Cody's professionalism and willingness to help out behind the scenes during his recovery.

Apparently Cody has been training hard but has been unable to get back into the team.
