I pity those who are tasked with sorting this unnecessary mess out. Love you all, DFC family.

Youre far more educated than me, sometimes I have to work out a few things you say. I get two interpretations and can’t work out what one is right.

We all lost out Spike whether you were a season ticket holder or not. We all support the club in our ways. The other half of 'The Odd Couple' paid for his season ticket last season and due to illness didn't attend one game.
Never mind

Very generous of you to infer my posts as “educated”, however I’m not so sure everyone would agree with you! In truth, we all really need some football to be talking about - the playoff games were a well-needed shot in the arm, but didn’t end well and seem like a pretty distant memory now.
Just thinking about it serves as a reminder of just how close Steve King came to taking us up, rather than the way in which we faultered, although he will not have received his fourth final defeat gladly.

Good news is that the squad looks good going into 2020/21 and we may well have missed out on trips to Yeovil / Notts County / Dover / Hartlepool, etc. anyway.
Four weeks this Saturday we will restart and in terms of restrictions I feel strongly that things will only improve.

Surely the point of buying one Park Life is to support the club financially really. Not to expect preference in the situation it is in now.

We are all fed up to the back teeth with covid19. But if one thing that has come to the fore throughout it all is what some people expect and not what is hoped for.

I couldn't agree with you more Ozy. I lost my job in London after almost 10 years but fortunately, start a new role in a couple of weeks time close to home. With all this going on I decided to purchase a season ticket for the first time in 3 seasons with my redundancy money as this is the only way I can guarantee seeing a game. Then again, nothing in life is guaranteed and there is a good chance that this season won't come crashing down on us and put the club at financial risk, along with all the other teams in our league.

Looking through the non-league page, I can see that Redhill has had to forfeit their FA Cup game due to a player testing positive for Covid-19, apparently, this is a new ruling for all cup competitions. They have also had to cancel their next 2 league games as well. Things could get worse if the league decide to award games to opposing teams in this scenario, even if it seems very unfair. One thing is for sure, this season could be a very interesting season on and off the field of play. Let's hope that the club are allowed supporters in and more importantly have a pay on the door structure in place to keep the cash flow going. Maybe, even have pods selling beer if no away supporters are allowed in.

The fact that I am prepared to pay my money up front for the whole season even though I always miss a few games (and those extra ones last season due to covid) is supporting the club financially, so surely if I've made that commitment the least I should expect is to get in?

In the current circumstances (and possibly for any other amount of reasons) you could argue I'm taking more of a risk by paying up front but prepared to make that commitment to support the club financially.

Most of us long-time supporters have in one way or another contributed tens of thousands to this club over the decades, but when someone makes a donation it has to be their decision, not just a case of the club arbitrarily deciding to keep their money. I really can't believe you are seriously suggesting season tickets are just some sort of charitable donation. A season ticket is not a financial gift to the club, it is a contract whereby pre-payment is made in exchange for access to a specified number of games. Or as Mikey succinctly put it, you pay to see football. It's not about getting "preference", it's about getting what you've already paid for.

Last season was different because covid caught us all by surprise, but clubs know the score now, so sensible policy would be to hold some tickets back for match by match basis and only selling a limited number of season tickets that they are able to accommodate. Failure to guarantee entry for those who have already paid would be morally and probably legally indefensible. What possible justification would there be for the club to effectively take two lots of money for the same space on the terrace, leaving the season ticket holder outside the ground? I can't believe we're even having this discussion.

I'm only quoting Gary's post Spike, 'preference to season ticket holders'. Although I'm not quoting him. I don't think I suggested they are a charitable donation. I originally spoke about the kid who see's all home games but cannot afford the one off payment for a season ticket who maybe will miss out.I didn't want a debate, it was just an observation.
But it did prompt suggestions before it nose-dived.
Yes PL it is all about watching football of course.
