Having refereed at this level I think I can make an informed opinion. Today’s referee was simply out of his depth at this level. He was a lumbering berk who had difficulty moving around the pitch. He had no clue as the Hampton’s game plan where it was so obvious to everyone else. Disruptive and ‘tactical’ fouling. How the No5 was not ‘carded’ earlier is beyond me. I don’t think Elliott dived at all. He fell but made it look bad. But on a yellow - that’s silly. And the Ref’s antics at half time were a joke. I thought he was going to stay out! As someone said, a mahoosive attention seeking clot whom I don’t want to see near PP again. Worse than Mike Dean!

I think that you nailed it Tommy. You do get days like this in football but what is more important is that we bounce back again. I am struggling to vote for a man of the match as it must be close to a bucket selection. In the end, I went for Luke but some of his corners were woeful and this is an area we need to focus on. You can keep floating high hopeful balls into the back post to Hill, you need someone who can whip one in at pace. As for our opponents, I thought they were one of the best teams we have played this season and going by their performance yesterday will be in the playoff mix at season's end. We could have played all day and night and not scored another goal. There was not too much that SK could change with the subs either, apart from taking off Elliott before his inevitable dismissal, even that would probably not make any difference as we didn't seem to have any impact player on the bench. Only Marsh-Brown or Bansal-McNulty could have made a difference but were not available.

With Maid$tone now hot on our heels, we have to try and chase down Dorking & Bath over the coming weeks. Still, lots of time and games ahead to look forward to and for now we need to get another run going.

Just listened to SK's opinion on the ref yesterday saying that he was one of the most unfit ref's he had seen and never moved out of the centre circle. Looking back, he was correct, he was always too far away to make any decision at all.

I see things differently I think.

They could of had 9 men after the elabow and that challenge from their 10 was a disgrace and the ref bottled it, simple. Someone said he looked out of his depth and that shows. As you fan you can’t say we lost because of the ref, I’ve never said that ever but if we had a good referee they wouldn’t be able to play the game they do and I think we’d beat them at football.

I also think we had plenty of chances and shots at goal, many moments around their box that were threatening that came to nothing. On another day we could of scored a few.

We gave away the ball so many times, poor distribution from the back going loose, midfield misplaced passes handing them possession many times all didn’t help. Imo the midfield was crying out for Noble to get his foot on the ball and drive forward with quality. I think our fantastic midfield had an off day and I though SK should of changed it after 60 mins.

For me the outstanding players was Luke. Harsh that his performance goes under the radar because we lost, he really was excellent and didn’t deserve to be on the losing side. Constantly attacking them and getting behind.

For me Eiiliot from the start wasn’t at his very high standards with his speedy pain in the arse harassing self and I thought looked tired and slower than he normally is from the start. AJ has been brilliant but worried me yesterday a lot and didn’t give me confidence, it was like waiting for a mistake to happen.

It is a set back but remember where we have come from this season, to me it is an off day but various circumstances didn’t go our way and we got to take it on the chin and move on. It’s just a shame it’s to them who are more anti football than football.

We’re still a good team with an excellent manager with a bright future.

UTD you didn’t answer my questions?

We set off like a train and should really have gone two or three up in the first half . They could not cope with Darren and Luke. However we missed Jacob a lot who is a very good footballer
H R clawed their way back into the game with questionable tactics and influencing the ref
We really need to look at the wider picture. The ref was everything I hate in refs . He allowed thuggery to continue in the game and had elliots card marked for presumably something Elliot said early on. He was determined to find a reason to send him off and gave him nothing all game to deliberately frustrate and goad Elliot . Eventually he gave up looking for Elliot to make a foul so gave him a second yellow for an alleged dive
This was obvious for all to see and the smart move would have been Elliot off at half time and Charlie on
I would think the ref was really proud of himself last night and he probably enjoyed a pint or two with the HR number 5
This type of ref kills the game. He does not deserve to officiate games at this level

Someone said before the game 'look at the size of that referee, no one's going to argue with him'. Well, he argued with a few and despite his size, lost the game in places. Size isn't everything.
Someone said they didn't enjoy the game, I think it was mickw, and I agree. Couldn't enjoy that game as a game it was ruined by tetchiness and arguments all over the pitch.
Thought that SK made his first mistake in taking Giovanni off instead of Tyrique, who for the first time had a mare of a game. Right off the boil. Felt at that time could have put Lee Noble on and got a better response. At first I thought as others that a H&R player had been sent off but on realising it was Elliot, I wasn't surprised seeing as he'd already had been booked and a verbal with the ref.
Still, never mind. Can't win them all.
Thought that 6,7 and 9 were very direct for them, seemed to frighten us when they ran at us. Poor goals to concede and can't blame AJ for either.
Always next week to put some pressure back on. The clubs below us are winning some above are slipping up. Makes very interesting reading.
Pete wishes he was doing 300 lines.
My MOTM goes to Josh Hill

Also when Elliot got sent off they were waving imaginary cards to the ref, I thought that alone was a booking but obviously he wasn’t worried about what they were doing. That would of got one of them sent off as they were on a yellow. Classless tactics but to be fair their manager leads the way and is a reflection on how the team behaves.

Agree with most post on here, the referee was Sunday league standard at best and out of his depth, but I still believe we would have lost even if Pierluigi Collina officiated? As mentioned, we had too many players having an off-day, and apart from the first 20 minutes I thought we were second best throughout the game. H&R stuck with their game plan and it worked? we can bemoan about their antics and the poor officiating, but overall, we weren’t good enough on the day,so on to next week and we go again.
Onwards and Upwards COYD
PS
Kentc ; I don’t think Luke’s performance has gone under the radar, as the fans choice for MOTM shows, and also, I wouldn’t hold your breath for Up The Ar*e (sorry darts) for any sort of reply? Have you noticed that his last post was the Slough Defeat? and before that the Dorking Comeback? Coincidence do you think? Just saying!
