It's absolutely the right decision in my opinion.
It was the right decision to start the season, the grant system allowed for that. Now that the situation has changed, relying on loans either from Govt or the League would not be my choice - we currently have no way of paying them back as crowds returning to football looks a pipe dream before the summer.
Very well said

There is no point now in restarting the season in 2 weeks or when ever. This season is done and with less than half the games played it's impossible to work out promotion and relegation places
To be honest unless crowds are allowed back into grounds at our level i can't see no point in starting the new season in August or September. This is a real pigs ear and unless covid is brought under real control i think it will be along time before we see any games at our level unless the clubs are given grants or fans let back in.

Just stating facts. Sometimes the truth hurts

All the while there's a chance i'll keep my glass half full and for the next two weeks cling to the belief the season will continue.
Hopefully common sense will prevail and the DCMS will see sense and carry on with the grants rather than potentially end up paying more through the furlough scheme. Still common sense through this situation has not always been at the forefront of decision making.
KEEP THE FAITH

Reg, I wasn't discussing an option. But it's good to read them.

I assume the two week break is set aside for the league representatives (Mark Ives) to work with the DCMS to sanction grants rather than loans.
If not it seems there are a small group of clubs in both NN and NS who have gone on record including DFC who are keen to continue.
Perhaps these clubs will be able to play a mini league or play off to decide promotion spots, (similarly to the current play off system) however this will only work if clubs in the National league are continuing and relegation is in place.
If there is no relegation from the National, I can see several clubs towards the bottom allowing their high earners to go elsewhere and playing a team of less well payed players safe in the knowledge they will not be relegated, and saving money for the following season.

I think that Marc White's statement comes across quite well as does the Hungerford statement. The Hungerford one is one that stood for the position of a lot of Step2 clubs and if they are now being left in the lurch a third of the way into the season what is their option now for them to finish it? Especially if they are to go down the road of loans to finish the season.
Yes, I questioned the season starting but now that there is a well trodden path into said season being well down the road. After the NLP had edited out Marc White's swearing in his statement, all I can say is 'what a f****** cock-up'.
