It was unfortunate timing for the Hoops. They were distracted by wondering how their U21's were faring in The Tunnocks Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup 2nd round. Like the rest of the Scottish Nation they are gripped with excitement by the thought that the Irish, Welsh and English (though 1 is Welsh) would now be entering the competition in the next round. Unfortunately the youngsters lost to Falkirk on penalties so will miss out on the chance of international club football. Had the games not clashed, the Seniors fully concentrated on the matter in hand would have progressed and in Spring 2020 would surely have been crowned European Club Champions, who could have stopped them? Such is fate.

Perhaps they should have sent the first team out in the 'Caramel Crackers' Cup L, at least they could still be in a cup competition now. Still there's always the Europa cup which is played on the outer reaches of Jupiter's gravity belt. :D

For the best team in Scotland to lose at home to a part time team from Romania tells you all you need to know about Scottish football

Well done Bonnyrigg Rose, but let's not forget the battlers of Fort William who avoided defeat yesterday. I know their match was rained off after continual torrential downpours, but that is just nit picking. Also it gives them some rest time before their North of Scotland Cup semi-final away to Brora Rangers on Wednesday, the other tie is the mouth watering prospect of an Inverness Caledonian Thistle v Inverness Clachnacuddin clash. Almost unbelievably no tv channel has taken up the rights to show the games live, not even highlights.
The 1st round of the Scottish Cup is being drawn live on 'Sportscene' on the BBC Scotland channel tonight, could there be a Bonnyrigg v The Fort clash come out of the bag? Never mind today's Old Firm clash this is the match up all of Scotland, The U.K., Europe, The World wants to see.

Ozimandias I know you waiting anxiously for the draw, well Bonnybrigg will start the road to Hampden away to Foress Mechanics, meanwhile Fort William are at home to Vale of Leithen. Banks O'dee who had the result of the 2nd preliminary round by beating Golspie Sutherland 2 - 0 are away to Fraserburgh.
Sadly these 1st Round ties will be played on the same date as the Darts 2nd Qual. round tie so a choice will have to be made.
As an aside a visit to the Fort William fc twitter feed and a scroll down to a short video of last week's goal of the day will show a glimpse of some interesting grounds.

What!! Banks O'dee?? The Vale of Leithen players will be gazing on the summit of Ben Nevis (unless shrouded in mist), while holding 'The Fort' to a rainsoaked 0-0. While the Roses quietly stuff the Mechanics.

A quick exit for me after the final whistle tomorrow to get home and watch the big match on tv. Connah's Quay Nomads v Cove Rangers in the 3rd of The Tunnock's Caramel Wafer League Cup. live on S4c ko. 5-15pm. Full commentary in Welsh to add to the fun, although English is available if the red button plays ball. Sadly the match is not being covered by BBC Alba, so anyone wanting coverage in Gaelic are going to be disappointed. Though they can follow the Valerie Fraser Cup Final between Skye Ladies and Badenoch Ladies if shinty is their game.
The Tunnock's cup has helped to extend Fort William's unbeaten run in the Highland League, after last week's game being rained off this week's scheduled opponents, Formatine United, are playing Northern Irish Club Glenavon in that competition. The Fort are on a roll.

It's happened Fort William have won a Highland League game, trouncing Clachnacuddin 1 - 0. Well I say the Fort won, but they did have 9 loanees from Championship side Inverness Caledonian Thistle, but I don't think that will worry them. 882 days, 74 fixtures since there last 3 points 12th April 2017, I wonder how much the win bonus is, I wonder if anyone can remember how much it is? The Fort have shot 3 places up the table, a title challenge is in the offing.
The Tunnocks cup inspired me to buy a packet of their wafers, now a mention of Viscount mint biscuits in a repeat episode of the Scottish comedy 'Still Game' has enticed me to buy some of them. Sainsburys had them on offer so a packet was purchased. Lovely, its a long time since I've had any, and definitely easier on the teeth and jaw. Let's get the interest and crowds back for the KSC, with the Viscount Mint Biscuit Kent Senior Cup, a free pack for every fan at the gate and the winning teams gets a container load of the treats.
