At one point there must of been 23 players on the roster. Welling had 5 centre halves and probably 5 centre midfielders at one point. Goldberg was throwing some of his own dosh at it too. There is no doubt SK is a very good manager with a fantastic CV but most clubs at this level will struggle to match his demands for very long.
So what are his demands then?

Whoever comes in has to work within an agreed budget, I bet Steve Irving is getting a little hot under the collar reading this.
Well Jonty my old mate you needn't worry as my understanding is that TB will be in charge this weekend and i'm sure Steve won't be getting hot under the collar because the club has complete control of the budget and he doesn't reads the forum anyway.

A large well paid squad and a large coaching team. Alright for a while but not sustainable for too long. Most Welling fans loved SK but knew it wasn't going to last long once his budget, squad and assistant team was reined in.

We have had a pretty decent sized squad and an improved budget for the last few seasons so don't think there is much difference. Other than a few clubs in this division i believe we have a competitive budget.
I tend to think there was an element of Mr. Goldberg wanting his toy back and to play manager again.

The reason given for making the cuts was that the hoped for increase in crowds and sponsorship didn't happen as hoped for, and the playing and backroom staff were reduced. I mentioned it to show that improved performances cannot guarantee increased income. Anyway that's all by the way, at least Mr. King's interview will be quick next week, come in Mr. King please sit down, what salary do you want for you and your staff? Ok that's been filled in on the contract so sign here please and welcome to Dartford FC. :D We will find out soon who gets the job, wonder if the cup tie needs a replay will affect the timing?

I see your point but I think there’s a massive difference in fan base potential between welling and Dartford.

Time has elapsed (maybe too much) . We will all find out the new incumbent next week. Full support to who ever I guess. ;)

Thank you for the update. All these many posts from Reginald Bosanquet are clouding the subject matter for me.

So Steve King left Welling because of Budget cuts. Maybe he won't even entertain Dartford FC because of our Budget. To be honest I can't even think of a manager who will be at PP.
The only one I've thought of is Hakan Heyretting and he seems quite happy at Maidstone with Still.

Apparently when he applied for the Chelmsford job he was laughed out of the room because of his unrealistic budget demand.
