Good point but remember we just paid 2 seperate salaries for our previous joint managers.

But they were young relatively inexperienced managers, Mr. King would be a lot more expensive I would expect with assistants pay on top. Even Bradley Quinton could command a fair whack with promotion from NLS on his CV. Though it has to be said neither have been eagerly snapped up by other clubs for whatever reasons. Perhaps every favourable post on here is adding to S. K.'s salary demands.

Liamaman, your first statement ! I know it's a forum hence why I think forums are bollockos. "A new manager will want to bring in his own people so the total cost of the complete package may be too much" Fanny..... pure fanny....

I simply don't get anything I really dont.
1. We have a budget to stick to controlled by the board
2. We get the best manager outside and possibly inside the football league.
3. Hes available
4. Dont get him and people will ask why we didnt.
5. And dont appoint him and x months down the line we will be having the same conversation and he wont be available.
6. Too late
7. We are stuck crowds dwindling
8. Of course I might be totally wrong but surely the any sane director of any company would choose the best man from history rather than gambling

Any applicant for the Managers post surely deserves ,and needs, a fair and measured Interview process.
They are, at this stage of the Season, not employed, and available to our Club for varying reasons. The Forum is great focus of discussion, but in this instance the facts are more important for Boardroom discussion, rather than a wish list garnered from previous histories and publicity. What once was, is not always what it can be now.
Every Interview will have its merits and deficiencies. Applicants surely have to impress Dartford Football Club that they are a 'Fit' for our needs. Not that they are doing us a favour by applying.

Mike perfect. Look it's simple. Employ the best man. How do you decide the best man ? You suggest a fair and measured interview process. What does that mean? I believe you are simply being controversial for some unknown reason to me at least. Steve King is respected by all. Wanted by many clubs. Now I'm speculating and hoping that he is a contender for the post because he is the best. Players I've spoken to who have played for him say they wanted to play for him. That is his forte. It's no different to TB. Basically hes respected. Given his knowledge of players and as I said previously Europe wide not in Kent or the M25 you are giving yourself a massive chance of success. Something that this man is laden with. Look it up. It's not hard to find

Don't agree with your first point as an interview process includes a face to face interview and that would take ages to get through all the applicants, some of whom would quite clearly not be up to the required standard. I believe the board have already considerably reduced the number down to the final few for interview so they would also seem to have taken that decision.
The facts are the facts and the same for us mere sheep on the forum and the board and these are based on histories/cv's and should be the main reason when making a decision. What once was is more likely to be now if you select the best qualified applicant.
The "needs" of our football club are like every other club in the world, to win football matches and that should be the most important factor when appointing our next manager. I don't believe for one minute that any of the applicants believe they are doing us a favour by applying, have you anybody in mind when suggesting that?

I'm totally unemotional on this , and I am given to understand that the Board will be interviewing the shortlist they have drawn up.
I do appreciate that The Forum is a discussion place, and I just post my viewpoint like everyone else. More than happy to receive any response, either way. No amount of discussion will derail the Interview process. Whether we all agree with the choice made by the Board, it will be their choice for their reasoning.
As with all Life, we may not always get what we want, but the Board will choose what they perceive the Club as a whole needs.
I accept that The Company is a 'whole year' entity, not just for the Football Season. I still accept that the requirements for our existence are best served by their expertise. If I am in a minority, so be it.. That's life.

Welling appointed Steve King believing future success would bring in extra crowds and sponsorship to pay for it. Well it didn't so at the turn of the year cuts were made, Mr. King did very well but the Wings are still in the NLS. The club has no assets to borrow against so any overspend will attract hefty overdraft penalties which will affect future budgeting. The Board showed willing with extra money being made available for Adam Cunnington so I am sure they will offer the best terms they feel comfortable with to whoever they feel is the best candidate. Then it is up to that person to accept or not, nothing is guaranteed in football, and speculate to accumulate is a valid point, but it is a gamble and you should only bet what you can afford to lose. Of course if any person(s) come forward with an offer to cover any possible losses I am sure the Board will be more than happy to have a chat. Like team selection it is very easy for those who don't have to do it and don't have their theories put to the test.
I would be very pleased if Steve King is appointed, but not at any cost.

Funny, I thought that was Arty, Reg. Unless??
Yes but Reg, I had no confidence in those two and nor had the players.
