As others have already said, John lived and breathed everything DFC. Never slow in expressing his opinions about players or opponents, but great company and loved any opportunity for a chat about the Darts.
There is a nice tribute to John by the club in tonight's match programme.
RIP John.

Just been informed that John's funeral is on the 3rd December at 9.30 am, at Shorne Crematorium, for anyone interested.

Johns' son has just rang me from Spain. He can't get over because of covid. He said if any friends from the club coming would like to wear some black and white, John would of liked that. He is hoping to watch a video link.

What an absolutely massive loss to Dartford F.C. John was a lovely man with a great sense of humour. On his many visits to hospital he used to ask the staff if he was getting nectar points. He was a true supporter of The Darts at every level. The terraces at home and away games will be a lot quieter without him. It was a pleasure to know you John.

With a maximum of 30 people allowed to attend funerals at the moment it might be worthwhile checking with his family in advance.

From what his son said there would only be about 10 relatives coming. With his permission all of John's Dartford memorabilia has been given to DFCSA. There seems to be programs going back to the fifty's plus he had dozens of Scape books with newspaper cuttings about the Darts, photos of when we went to Wembley and also of when Princes Park was being built. Apparently Burnsy and Elliot would like to send flowers and Tony and Dave will probably be representing the club.

In different circumstances I do think there would be a very large DFC presence at the funeral, there are many players, fans and directors who would have made the effort to attend.

I was flicking through some photos on my laptop and came across one that I took at Welling with me, my son, Gary Skip Hills and John. Memories to cherish....
