Visited the Fun Day today with the wife and relatives and there was a reasonable number of people there especially as most had youngsters with them and at least the sun stayed out.
The highlight for me was going round to to watch a certain Mr Gary Clark running an amusement for kids with the giant inflated dart board and three footballs for them to shoot at it.
After each attempt on or around the bulls eye area or below which is what most of the kids could achieve Gary would retrieve the balls by knocking them down with an adjustable shovel type implement and so after a while a number of the adults started speculating what would happen if a ball went up near the double top as the implement would not reach up that high.
A certain Mr Adam Flannigan known to most of us thought he would put into practice the idea and had a go and with his first kick completely missed the target putting it over the top and onto the roof of the stand.
With only 3 balls and at 3 balls for £1 urgent action was needed and even funnier now were the attempts by Gary and associates to retrieve the ball much to our enjoyment as they used an adjustable extension attached to the end of the implement previously being used but all to no avail and at that point I left them to it and the wife suggested to Gary use 2 balls and get one back for the third attempt whilst you work out a way to get the ball off of the roof.
I later saw that they had managed to get the ball back and all was running well earning some more money as the kids participated.
Well done Gary and all of the other people running stalls and contributing to the day in various areas.
I also took the opportunity to pay my fiver to Gary for the website and he earns every bit of money he gets and I also paid for mine and The 5th Searchers season tickets to get in early at the reduced prices so all set ready for the friendlies and the start of the season.

''Twas a lucky Sunny Day, considering days before & the week ahead. The attractions were well visited and appreciated it seemed, including by the Deputy Mayor, both managers, some players like Ryno, Academy Elliott, Ben late on & newbies. The FACup and the u-16's Quadruple Trophies were on display, while the DFCSA Stall and club shop were busy, encouraging to add support to the club. Look out for either of the next two Thursdays' Dartford Messenger, for the photographer's report on this Fun Day. Well done!
