19/20 Season
Re: 19/20 Season
Very very disappointed I just can't quite get my head round the fact I'm going to have to endure another season with these two in charge!
Re: 19/20 Season
Still can't believe the board are happy with the progress made
Re: 19/20 Season
I won't comment further about the boards decision in respect of the service that Steve Dave & Tony have put in during the past many years, so suffice to say i am very disappointed to hear of the
re-appointment of Adam & Jamie.
On the plus side though surely they cannot make as many poor decisions in signing a fresh squad of players for next season as we will probably need 6-7 new ones to make up a decent side/bench of 16 with Academy players as spares when needed.

Re: 19/20 Season
As the saying goes about football, 'it's a funny old game' so this time next year we maybe congratulating the board for sticking with the status quo. On the other hand we may not, but I wish the management team all the best for 19/20 & hope they can be successful after learning some harsh lessons this season. I'm not sure all the players recently mentioned left because of A & J, Bertie wanted to be fulltime, Alex Brown cited work commitments & went down a division & Nathan re-joined a manager who he knew & got on with.
Well we can only wait & see what develops over the next few weeks.
PS, I hope Alex Brown makes a complete recovery from his cruciate injury & the same for Tom Wynter.

Re: 19/20 Season
JCAF now has the opportunity to go again with more or less a blank canvas. The most impressive thing that they could do in my eyes is to secure the signings of Bonner, Vint, Noble, Hayes and Pugh. These guys would provide a decent core to build around, leaving plenty of scope for the management's own interpretation of a quality squad around them.
I enjoyed watching Coyle and Flanners at Dartford and have no extraneous truck with either of them, however the close of this season was nothing short of an utter debacle. Players not wanting to turn out, humiliation by relegation fodder teams and the unbelievable opportunity we were handed on the final day despite all our shortcomings lost with a whimper. It's important next season that should this trend start again that it's addressed promptly and not swept under the carpet. Jamie and Adam have been presented with a second chance IMO and are lucky to have it. I shall be behind them come August.

Re: 19/20 Season
I think it's a mistake for all concerned and I firmly believe it will all end in tears, but the decision has been made so all we can do now is get behind Jamie, Adam and the players and hope that they can prove us doubters wrong. Recruitment, recruitment, recruitment! That was their downfall last season and will be the key to the next one.

Re: 19/20 Season
I think the board are showing exceptional loyalty to both JC & AF, the backing they have been given by the board is unlikely to be found at any another club.
Especially at a time when there are many managers who have a proven record of success in the NLS and who are available (Kinear, McMahon, Saunders) to name but three.
I hope JC & AF spend the revised budget well on some players who are the right "characters" even if they are not the best players ! At our level team spirit, togetherness desire to win and basic organisation will be successful.
In addition I also hope that we can see some of our youth players given opportunities, rather than go directly to old mates or ex clubs for a short term loan. If we have a youth development programme then let's give these kids chances and some extended game time even if they make a few mistakes I would rather see a 17 or 18 year old kid having a go than a guy here and gone for a month or so.

Re: 19/20 Season
Oh well we carry on attending and supporting but not surprised after all the Board are backing their own previous choice.
I am baffled that they think we did ok , shows lack of ambition if they are even mildly happy in my book
Hopefully they will make better signings than last season , mind you that should not be difficult

Re: 19/20 Season
I think 11th was OK. What I don’t think was ok was the awful player recruitment situation, starting with allowing Hayes to go and getting Wall in only to let him go again. There has been no sign of building for the future. The football has been awful and the lack of team spirit far too evident. If I’m gonna hand over dosh and sacrifice time spent with family for freezing my bits off watching my team, the least I expect is a bit of effort from the players.
What is worse than keeping these two in position is giving them even more of our money to piss up the wall, or indeed piss off the Wall.
I hope for a massive turnaround, where there’s hope...
There’s always Plan B come Christmas

Re: 19/20 Season
I knew this was going to happen so it has come as no surprise.
I’m very concerned though that they will not be able to retain the decent players we have in the current squad, i think there are at most 7 worth keeping but worryingly only one of those was signed by Adam & Jamie so it doesn’t bode well for the future.
There are a couple of loan players who have done ok and may be worth considering but I can’t see that happening anyway.
Let’s not forget they are not complete novices, this was I believe Adam’s sixth year as a manager, Jamie has been a coach and manager (and likes a loan player, i think he had 7 goalkeepers last season at Welling) and they are not inexperienced at this level.
I’m also trying to think of one good thing they have done this season but in all honestly I’m struggling, so they can count themselves extremely fortunate to be getting another opportunity.
As for the clubs statement I’m not at all impressed:-
“ a top half finish, and being only marginally outside the play-offs, was not far away from where we expected to be”
So it fell below where they expected to be and it definitely wasn’t where i expected to be and don’t forget the poor cup runs.
“Transitional season”?
What does this mean? Is it to dismantle a very good squad, sign a load of poor players, supplement that with more poor loan players, get worse as the season goes on, lose the dressing room and finish up playing like relegation fodder. If that’s transition I don’t won’t any more of it.
“With a revised budget giving them a little more flexibility”
Now this is the one that really got me as surely this can only mean they will be getting more even though they made only one signing who made any significant contribution. At least though it might stop the moaning about the budget which has been rumoured on several different occasions this season, it’s now in black and white so we shouldn’t have to hear any more of that again this season.
However even more worrying is the clubs mention of the budget, are they mad, who does that benefit? Certainly not anyone at DFC. Now every player/agent reading that will be rubbing their hands together looking for more money. It’s somewhere between naivety and stupidity to announce that, the last club to do something similar was I think Zippo’s Circus and look how that went.
Adam and Jamie were both good players for us and seem like decent guys so regardless of who is in charge I will always renew my season ticket and when the season starts be supporting the team. I worry though as there will be no honeymoon period this time and I have a bad feeling it may well end up very messy, very quickly. If I’m wrong I’ll put my size 11’s in my big gob, hold my hands up and admit it but i have a bad feeling that will not be the case
