I would like to think substitutions were made which can upset the balance/flow of the teams performance. But if not, hopefully being four up we took feet off the pedal. To ship three goals is a bit worrying when strolling, hope we don't do that next week.
Having seen Henry's thread, and seeing Spikes also, I would be tempted to take a chance on Cameron Brodie this season seeing as Sam has an unfortunate injury. I'm all for youth in the side and with Noble and Allen alongside him the lad can only benefit, and who knows? He may be the find of the season in National South. I hope the duo do NOT ship him out on loan somewhere, only to bring him back years later at some expense.
We need, it seems, to be on our toe's next weekend and hope we can put some goals away. August is going to be a tough month, let alone the season.

Seeing the goal Cameron scored against Bromley the lad is certainly not lacking in confidence. I mean fancy taking a crack from OUTSIDE the box. A rarity. I do hope that we have a bit more gung ho in that area this season. Too much pussying around for me last season

I really don't know if it is my memory playing tricks on me or not, and I haven't the time or energy to be going back through all the recent seasons playing records, but I do get the feeling that on our way up through the leagues and early seasons in the Conference, our goals were coming from players all over the pitch and from a greater number of players. Whereas more recently, we have been more reliant on the likes of goals from Elliot. Certainly seem to recall more goals from defenders and a wider spread of goals from midfielders.
I would be in agreement with Ozy's last 2 posts as well. If we have a youngster coming through the youth system who looks promising then give him a chance with games, and make sure we protect the club's investment and is rewarded if young players do then move on to higher levels.

I disagree. I don’t think Cameron is quite ready for our level yet. The midfield of Noble and Allen played very well yesterday with Allen possibly being my MOTM. Whilst Cameron has played well, when he came on yesterday he got bullied off the ball and a stray pass caused their second goal. I’m not knocking the lad because he great potential however this needs to be managed and a season in a men’s league would do the world of good for his development.

I would hate the lads to go looking for a panic buy a week before the season starts and getting someone with a name and demanding a lot of money or a carthorse that was Peter Sweeney. Brodie should be nurtured with the view to hopefully get stronger. Only my opinion of course.

What's the saying? If you're good enough, you're old enough. I say give him a run-out. If it doesn't work out, there's always Plan B (isn't there?

Liverpool have just bought a 16 year old so that blows that out the window, the lads done well and will improve with match play and the senior players helping him, don't knock him down for one game as a sub.

You might be right, it may be a little early for Cameron to start regular, but in all honesty, I've seen every friendly except yesterday's and if I didn't know he was the youngster and Allen the new signing, I would have thought it was the other way around. Brodie has stood out as a player with confidence, you notice him because he's involved and plays like someone with a lot more experience. Allen hasn't done a lot wrong but I felt he was fairly anonymous in the games I've seen. You suggest Allen may have been MOTM for the one game I haven't seen so maybe he's peaking at the right time and is going to burst into action when the real stuff starts next week. That's quite possible as you can't always tell a lot from friendlies, but on the plus side, it's good to know we've got Cameron breathing down his neck and champing at the bit to get on.

It’s great that we have healthy competition for places in these central midfield positions. Whilst Allen is seeming anonymous is that because he’s doing the work that no one notices e.g champion esque. I’m cautiously optimistic for the future of Cameron but I just don’t want to see him being thrown into a game for it to affect his development but I suppose you don’t know unless he gets a chance. We shall see what their selection is when the real stuff starts, exciting times!
