I also remember winning a shoot out against Margate when we were ground sharing with
Purfleet .Does anyone remember that one?

I recall a shootout win at Ramsgate, ten years-ish ago.

FA Trophy, Paul Hennessy came off the bench for his first match back after contracting Meningitis and scored a penalty in the shootout.

Very close game yesterday with us controlling it for long periods but with them just having the better chances, as someone that was lucky enough to be at the ground I can tell you that everybody there from from the directors, the management team and all the players were devastated by the result and how the pens turn out, it seemed that there was more pressure on the pens with no fans and the players on the halfway line able to here the commentators speaking as the pens were taken, I am convinced 100% that the club will do everything they possible can to get us promoted as champions next season, it’s going to be another great adventure next season, hopefully with us all able to watch the games live.

Have referred to Princes Among Men for verification as I have very little to do this morning. We did indeed beat Ramsgate 5-4 on penalties in the Isthmian League Cup on 10/11/2009 following a 2-2 draw at Southwood.
Same competition, Darts beat Folkestone Invicta 5-3 on penalties at Purfleet 12/09/2006 (just before moving in to PP), following another 2-2 draw.
More recently, we lost on penalties to Welling in the KSC. 22/11/2016 when Ryno’s penalty (rebound) hit the roof of the E&B Bar.
There aren’t many more shootouts that I can see other than a 4-1 win at Camberley following two draws in 2007, the 9-8 win over Canvey in 2010 following two draws (already mentioned by babylon), both in the FA cup and two shootouts in the FA trophy - the 4-2 success over Margate at Ship Lane 01/12/1999 and 4-2 loss to St. Albans at PP 25/11/2008, both after replays.
Finally, there was a 4-3 penalty victory over Margate at Watling Street in the Southern League Cup in 1978 after Margate’s 2-0 second leg win was voided due to them fielding an ineligible player and a 6-7 loss to Fleet Town in Purfleet in the same competition in 1999.

That would seem to be about it for our shootout history unless I’ve forgotten / overlooked anything, which I almost certainly will have done.

There is no denying that it isn't physicaly possible to have done a worse job with the penalties, but whilst we're all deeply disappointed, the bigger picture is still very rosy. When you realise we played 3 of the top teams, all away from home, gaining 2 wins and a draw, you must realise how far Steve King has brought us in such a short period of time. His brief was to avoid relegation but what has been achieved has been phenomenal. Just imagine what can be achieved when the man has an equal start. Pick your heads up Darts, next season is going to be spectacular.

We now know what division we will be in for 20/21, but when it will start, what format it will be and how many people will be allowed in to watch are still up in the air. The Co-vid rules could change at any time as could the size (if any) of crowds allowed in and if what I saw from the televised Irish Cup final on Friday with 250 supporters from each team in attendance and socially distanced it will not be many, certainly on the seated side. Only 3 teams down from the National Division with 4 going up and no promotions from below the league is 1 team short. On face value with only Ebbsfleet from the southern area coming down it will be NL South 1 down. Will there be extra subs. allowed, replays in cup ties or even extra time in 1 off matches? Will just have to wait and see, whatever is decided the most important competition must be kept sacrosanct. The new season should be built around The Kent Senior Cup.

After having felt rather dejected yesterday, I am really proud of the club and the players. It is worth remembering how dark the situation looked back in September; the optimism of the fans for next season is tangible and I am really excited about it. Fighting for the championship is not out of the question.

King worked his magic and the result was fantastic. We lost the penalty shootout in our own unique style, but we are not going up mostly thanks to the complete hash we made of the first quarter of the season. I am confident we'll make a much better start next time. My thanks to all at the club for the ride.

I wouldn't have minded if their keeper had saved a couple but all three over the bar was tough to take. We did win a penalty shoot out at Boreham Wood three weeks ago, didn't we?
Still, as said, next season will be fun, if only we get a chance to see some of it.
You two Terra fans, if you do get a chance to see any of your games you'll be pinching yourselves with some of the teams visiting the Bob Lucus Stadium? I know I did with some of our games at PP when we were up there. Good Luck, you may need it. ;)
