So, whilst there are obviously lots of different opinions about who the next manager should be, one thought that seems constant throughout is that fans want the next manager to be chosen from ALL the applicants and based simply on who is the best candidate for the job. Most people felt that the last appointment was NOT made on that basis, but from a very small pool of individuals who "knew the Dartford way". Although most fans eventually accepted the appointment, many were a little underwhelmed and felt that the club had put selecting a friendly face ahead of picking the best man. In fact, giving the job to two of them at once made it look even less of a strong decisive decision. I hope they don't make the same mistake again as the club needs everyone pulling in the same direction.
Absolutely spot on Spike, I totally agree. I'm confident that Board will learn from their mistakes and appoint the best available candidate, budget permitting of course.

Adam Flanagan gives a heart felt interview on Kent Online where he blames Tony Burman for everything, no of course not, he calls him a great man.
If he goes back into management he will be more careful in his choice and not follow a legend into a club, before replacing T B he replaced Danny Cowley, not the easiest to succeed. I expect he will be a bit down the pecking order now and will most likely have to settle for lower leagues.
He confirmed that him and Jamie resigned, and anyone reading the article must surely conclude he put everything into it, and doesn't offer any excuses. Perhaps the chance came too soon, a bit more experience may have helped.

At the risk of dragging up old muck i always felt that had Adam been manager and Jamie first team coach the pair may have been more successful, however with both having equal status decisions may have become difficult.
Anyway hopefully Adam and Jamie will get another chance at a club should they still wish to do so.

On the face of it, Steve King looks to have the best record but if I was a betting man, I'd put everything I own on the club going for Jay Saunders. They know they'll never get away with picking another ex-Dart and I just think he's the sort of safe option that our board will like the look of.

Unfortunately that's exactly how i see it going but as i've already said Steve King is for me the stand out candidate.
He has a very good record at this level, has also managed higher up the pyramid, i believe he also has a very wide network of contacts and only last season transformed Welling virtually overnight.

I really hope you are wrong Spike, surely we need a manager who will play a brand of football that is pleasing on the eye. Steve King is probably the manager that most people want on this forum and only Chris Kinnear has a better CV but he is 97 now, well not that old but you get my drift. My top three would be 1) Steve King 2) Bobby Wilkinson 3) Chris Kinnear in that order. Maybe someone can crunch the data a put everything into a pivot table, say 5 points for winning the Conference South, 3 for gaining promotion from Conference South and for FA cup runs, 1 point for 1st round proper, 2 points for 2nd round proper and so on. It would be interesting to see who has accumulated the most points.
One thing is for sure, if we bring in Jay Saunders it will be a real turn off from a viewing perspective. I hope the board think outside of the box and take a chance on someone with no Kentish connections.

No Kentish connections, Jonty? You’ve just ruled out Chris Kinnear.

Not necessarily Skip, not sure you can class Margit and Le Dovre as Kentish.
I will always be a bit bias towards CK purely because he taught maths to one of my boys and if the decision was purely based on intellect he would win hands down. He also has an algorithm on non-league players up and down the country, that is why he could rebuild a team every year from scratch at Dover.
Quite frankly, any of the aforementioned managers would do a good job for us but I don't get that same vibe with Jay Saunders.
