There's a simle answer to our GK problem for next season??.........Bring back Bertie!!
LEGEND HAS IT HE PLAYED THROUGH THE 1953 CUP FINAL WITH A BROKEN NECK!! That's the sort of spirit we need back at the Darts!!

I'd be happy with either of them.

1953 was the Stan Matthews final, when Blackpool came back from 3 -1 down to beat Bolton Wanderers, for whom one time Darts manager Doug Holden was playing.
The broken neck cup final was 1956, look at the news reel a man with a sponge comes to treat the injury, its all a bit different these days, thankfully.
I wonder how Bertie's confidence is after his brief stay at Woking, he seems to have spent time at a few Isthmian League teams since then?

Last I heard he was playing for Met Police after being loaned out by Woking.
I’d love to see him come back again but would be just as happy with Alan Julian as both were excellent keepers.

Ozymandias whatever happens shortly we do need to rebuild so i dont think its at all early. I hope for experienced players rather than young academy players. However everyone should always remember the financial restraints, availability, players personal ambitions. So signing players as we all want is a massively difficult task. People will question recruitment etc... I indeed questioned the dropping of Bailey. However it may appear that the move back to Colchester may have had something to do with it. This all adds up for me to cut them some flack in their decision making

Arthur; I was working in Barca this week. Are you going back to attend the San Migual Cerveza Festival later this month?
They said they need you there??

You have to feel a tad sorry for poor old Stan Mortenson, he scored a Hat-trick in that game but it's known as the Stanley Matthews Final !!
I wouldn't be happy, but he probably just shrugged his shoulders & went back down the Pit Monday morning??

Not forgetting another ex Darts Manager ; Roy Dwight, who scored and broke his leg in the 1959 Cup Final whilst playing for Nottingham Forest?
