Re: What is going on at my beloved Dartford?
I would agree that putting the club at risk by overspending is the last thing wanted by any of us who have been around for a long time. On the other hand last season we managed to afford a squad good enough to challenge for first place and as far as I am aware the budget is no smaller this year.

I missed my first home game of the season on Saturday due to being up in the North East. I will make sure I'm up in the Princes Suite next home game to order a glass of tap water M1M1 South wrote:Come on liven yourself up chaps!! Did anyone not see the new Barmaids up in the Princes Suite bar yesterday??? Now that's what i call progress (volume 1)
That is what Saturday afternoons are all about!!

I agree with most of the posters on here.
We are all over the place and were very very fortunate
To win against WSM .
I will be there next home game but I won't expect too much
From this squad.
It is not just me,lots of regulars where I stand are very
disappointed with most of our new signings
Maybe we have been spoilt but this squad is simply
not good enough.

Oz I think you are on the money there. I know of a manager at a very good level who was not even considered for the job. He has a much better CV than our managers and would not have commanded a huge salary. No connection to DFC but wanted the job.Ozymandias wrote:Before Kentc get's on here I agree with him. Some wanted change but feel we took the easy option. The Safe plan.
When there were probably decent managers out there to be had, that had no connection to DFC we chose the easy option.

I don't doubt being at the next game Babylon, it's not about whether we will or not. As long as this season doesn't turn into anything like Biddle's 'Carnival of Errors'

Agreeing with me Ozzy? Illl remember this moment.
I have commented on th WSM thread so I won’t say it all again but there’s an odd few or more that keep referring to careful what you wished for nonsense over the short start to the season. Well I didn’t wish for this. 2 salaries on 2 DFC family yes men. Seems the board didn’t want fresh eyes and a fresh start they wanted people they can control unlike a few top managers out there.
There were plenty of managers that were not approached and while I don’t consider myself in the know I know this much. They might of said no but they were not approached.
And weren’t flan and coyle at our last playoff game? Can’t remember but someone will correct me. If so that alone tells you the search for a fresh start and change was bull.
The board must take responsibility for this, their unwillingness to get a manager in who might challenge them.
And please no one moan about the budget as there are many teams not the size of our club with no investment who aren’t afraid to recruit new management to try and progress the club.
2 salaries into 1, yes we could if attracted a proven tactical leader from outside but then the board might not like someone who is his own man.
Let’s be honest, that’s how it is and if anyone thinks it’s not you’re kidding yourself.

The biggest problem is if you cock up the summer signings then your in trouble for the rest of the season.
We let the wrong players leave and signed rubbish.

Re: What is going on at my beloved Dartford?
Our transition from League Runers Up is well documented, ongoing, and currently, in restructure, from an unexpected fracture of our Management Core. It is at times unpalatable after years of stability, but any restructure does take time.
A number of Kent Clubs are in a transition caused by their decisions not to secure Playing Staff at the end of last season, and starting afresh. Respected Managers then struggling to satisfy expected needs and results. A senior Club has dispatched theirs ,and a number of Players, in order to get results short term, using short term Loans from Leagues above, such is the pressure.
Across football there is always a claim that "there are better Managers out there" despite them already being unemployed, or financially unemployable to the specifics at each Club.
There is, factually, no easy get out. Manager or Pogba at Man U, is a glib headline not a useful way forward, when things falter at the very top of the Game. At our level ,Clubs and Directors have to first deal with the nuts and bolts of financial structure, and development to maintain, let alone improve,- and use time tested decisions to continue provisions for their Supporters. Out of the blue and unexpected, a catalyst fractured that security. Luckily, the Club appears to be secured. We, as Supporters may have had too much fun over the past years. Perhaps we may have to bite the bullet for a while. Not unlike a number of other Clubs. But at least our structure is planned and secured by a knowledgeable Board. In my humble opinion.
