I know it's only a friendly but why do refs turn up and just totally disregard the rules.
Absolute stonewall yellow card for them and he just ignores it.

Another good workout for the boys today against a side expected to go straight back up . Again we looked the better side and I almost feel disappointed drawing

Here are the goals

Jake Robinson is brought down in the box , picks himself up and smashes home the penalty

Southend defence is ripped apart and the superb move is finished off by Dan Roberts https://youtu.be/5PoiWXNpmiI

The No 11 trialist was superb for us again today, getting in excellent crosses & beating the fullbacks easily. He’s very quick & tricky too, he also gets back to help defend. Also set up our 2nd goal today for Danny Roberts.

The more I see of Danny Leonard the more he impresses me, again he’s another one that can beat the fullback easily and gets over quality crosses. We’ve not really had wingers doing that for a while, the last time was a certain Ryan Hayes especially in his younger days.

We just don’t look out of place at all against these higher opposition league teams, if anything it is they who look out of place against us.

Feet on ground and all that, according to my Shrimpers contact, it was predominantly their U23 side today.

No doubt we are very good, excellent pre season so far, but that’s what it is.

The big one is St. Albans…….

I really dont understand the reasoning about playing the same two trialists in the last 4 games as surely it must be decision time , I cant believe that Kingy needs that amount of time to decide so perhaps its that the trialists are using us with ambitions higher , seems a shame as the No11 especially has looked good enough to be in our league squad !!!!!
I thought the No2 [ in previous games or No17 today ??] would also give us depth in the full back positions , perhaps Kingy has spent ALL the budget ?????
