Steve King - New Manager
Re: Steve King - New Manager
Sadly for the rest of the teams in this division Dartford now have the best manager. He will soon have the players running through brick walls for him. The work rate of each player will double. The teams shape will be solid. The set pieces will improve as will the defending. If he is able he probably has a couple or three little gems he will bring in. I fully expect Dartford to finish in the playoffs.

Steve King even gets a good reference from Mark Goldberg owner and manager of Welling Utd, when asked for his reaction to the appointment he said " its a good fit Dartford are a big club and Steve King fits a big club " . The Welling faithful seem very sorry to have lost him especially to us.

That's exactly what it was - I'm happy with our new man and excited about the future
Re: Steve King - New Manager
Having Jamie and Adam was not playing it safe. They are relatively new to management and as a double act it was always a risk.
Taking on Steve King is playing it safe as he has a proven track record. Make hay while the sun shines. This is a great appointment. Let’s see if we can get up, stay up and a few seasons down the line see if we can tot up 10 years in DFC history at the top of non league - and then...?

Kingstonian were one of the favourites to win promotion this season but haven't exactly hit the ground running after a very slow start to the campaign.
They have only just recently begun to show signs of what they can do. A very impressive 4-1 victory away to WSM in the FA Cup replay was followed up by a creditable 2-2 draw at Carshalton.
They have a good manager in Hayden Bird who did exceptionally well with Merstham last season. Most of those players he has taken with him to Kingstonian.
This could be our toughest test yet in the competition this term, and we all know how Princes Park can bring the best out of the opposition who love to raise their game at our wonderful ground at times.
I'm feeling fairly confident though as it sounds like we have the right man at the helm to see us over the line, and into the first round proper.

I think Steve King likes to have his own staff around him. A friend of mine scouted for Welling for many years under different managers including Jamie Day.
When King took over he had his own scouts so released him. Although he did make the kind gesture of giving him a free season ticket.

I thought I'd read earlier in this thread that he had already chosen an assistant.
