New Manager Nomination Form
Re: New Manager Nomination Form
I think Spike is saying, they will play it safe BJ or is it CJ. I didn't get where I am today without knowing my abbreviations.
Re: New Manager Nomination Form
I don't know, I guess they would probably say something like he's a better "fit".Reginald Horsfield wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2019 10:34 am But his list of achievements are nothing like Steve Kings. How would that be justifiable to the fans Spike ?
Personally, whilst Saunders seems a reasonable choice, I just feel that if I'm right and they appoint him and then things go wrong, people will inevitably complain that they had the chance to go for the most successful applicant and didn't take it.
I've heard a lot of stuff about skeletons in closets but until someone opens one of those closets and shines a light on at least one skeleton, the only tangible reason I've heard for not picking the best candidate is the fear that his ambition may lead us into financial trouble. That could only ever happen with the board's compliance so I genuinely don't understand this argument.

Umm a better "fit"
Re: New Manager Nomination Form
I want the person with the best CV and at this time that is Steve King by a country mile. If we choose someone else because he's the right fit, a nice chap of for whatever other reason that is going to be hanging over the club all the time and will also put unnecessary pressure on the new manager.
I am beginning to wonder as a club what we really want?

Parky,I agree a out SK but Who knows what our board will decide?
SK has an excellent cv but as we all know he is a marmite
manager.
We have no sugar daddy on our board so we are not a bottomless pit and I would think SK knows that(if he has applied)
I did hear on the grapevine that they hope to have the new man in for the Slough fixture but that might be fake news.We await with bated breath.COYDsss

LThe lay time we needed a new manager we went for the easy option and we all know what happened next. We need to act like a professional football club and appoint the best candidate otherwise what is the point
Re: New Manager Nomination Form
In a surprising move Steve King has been appointed Head Groundsman. Nothing on the new manager but I am given to understand the dugouts will soon have the best window boxes in the league. Could have been a mix up in the paperwork, or I have taken too many tablets fighting that crippling illness known as man flu and become delusional. It has been a bit of a bad dream lately in any case. We will just have to be patient and wait.

Out of the Country and just catching up.
Obviously any polished CV always draws attention. Spike is obviously right that the Company Board could never allow Spending to run out of control, due to the Clubs set up. So, whoever applies, and whatever their credentials, the Financial situation is critical to any Managers Contract, not a braking feature once things became difficult
Therefore, for me, the Pick is not as straightforward as credentials ,or how they came about for any applicant. Due process of whether both sides can move together in practice, will surely determine any final outcome of this difficult and crucial decision.
Not our personal preferences of the little we really know as Fans.

According to the press report cited above, SK quit Lewes because the club (Board) had spent so much money getting so many promotions they couldn't afford to push for any more and were prepared to get relegated to save money - something SK was unsurprisingly not prepared to accept. So any skeletons there were definitely in the Board's cupboard and not his.
Re: New Manager Nomination Form
Spot on, Silver. So, no issues that would cause anyone any angst apart from the possibility of getting promoted too quickly and the club obtaining the necessary funds for the appropriate ground improvements. That just means Micky Austin will be arranging a lot more race nightssilverado wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2019 5:39 pm According to the press report cited above, SK quit Lewes because the club (Board) had spent so much money getting so many promotions they couldn't afford to push for any more and were prepared to get relegated to save money - something SK was unsurprisingly not prepared to accept.
