Re: Retained List 2018/19 & New Signings
Is anyone saying it was the club's decision that he should leave rather than his?
Re: Retained List 2018/19 & New Signings
What the hell does "tough decision not to move things forward" mean?
Presumably this is about money but I thought he'd already signed. With Pughy out injured as well, I don't know where the goals will come from.
When Alex reportedly "signed" this news gave the fans a huge boost. The club needs to put out a proper explanation, not just a vague meaningless message.
Gutted with this news.

Now this is really perplexing, I like others thought he had already signed on for this season? All the noises coming from the player that he had a decent pre-season and was raring to go. This is a bolt out of the blue and rather depressing, would like to have the situation made clearer so at least as fans we can understand why he has gone so close to the season kicking off????

Whilst it leaves a hole the two trialists, Chez Isaac and Jamie Philpot would both be very good signings. I liked Alex however he has still looked off the mark this pre season and with Delano and Kudus looking like the first choices I believe he would’ve struggled.
Best of luck to him and I hope his luck changes as he still has the potential to succeed if his next club has patience.

Well they'd need to have more patience than us, we didn't even wait until 3.05pm on the first day of the season. Yes he's a bit ring rusty but we've seen what he can do when fit and I thought he'd probably need a run of 5 or 6 games. Without knowing the reasons behind this decision it just seems madness to me.DA1 wrote:Whilst it leaves a hole the two trialists, Chez Isaac and Jamie Philpot would both be very good signings. It does seem a bit of an odd decision, especially so close to the start of the season. Who knows what the reason is for him to be released?

A possible question for tonight's meeting?
We don't really know when players are "signed" if they are actually on contract or simply registered to play for the club. Alfie was well into the season before he was put on contract last year.
The club did seem to be going out of its way to get him over his previous injuries, including not letting him play two consecutive matches on artificial pitches when it was considered undesirable because of his earlier problems.

We have seen what he can do when he’s fit but that was many years ago before a number of serious injuries limited his game time for the past few years. I’m not suggesting that he doesn’t still have the talent but for the moment I think this is a brave but correct decision by the club.spike wrote:Well they'd need to have more patience than us, we didn't even wait until 3.05pm on the first day of the season. Also it’s very strange as this is similar to the Pavey decision by Coyle at Welling last year.

Really can't understand this and very disappointed.
I though Alex was looking stronger very time I saw him in pre season and the only forward I could see who could possibly get us 20 goals.
Without any sort of statement it's a real strange one.
