We played ok until flanners and coyle decided to sub our best player today Luke Allen who was winning tackles and controlled midfield .....then the wheels fell off . The only sub we needed to make was our 19 for Pugh .

First half we was slow out of the blocks, a few missed passes between the team.
Equaliser came just before half time when we was putting some pressure on them.
Second half we started brighter but just lacked that killer ball, Nasha had the best chance of the second half when he could have put us in front.

Early days yet I’m sure the team will come good just need some time and some training sessions to get the team to Gel.

Cunningham looks a handful and Ryan put some decent balls in for him.

On to a tough Tuesday night against St Albans.

If we were 4 down at half time no one could complain. And it mostly came from one side.
Cunnington was excellent. Luke did really well. Allen was quality, would love to know the thinking taking him off. Our goalkeeper kept us in the game in first half.
Looking forward to reading everyone’s opinions and how we gloss this one over.

From what I could see we have a much better squad than last season. No one had a bad game, Wealdstone took their chances we did not. Cunnington as said was excellent.
I know we did ride our luck after conceding the pen but we were on top at the end of the half and equalised from a good corner from Ryno. After missing two good chances in the second half the game changed with a deflected own goal. After that we did fall away which was disappointing. More tuff games coming up, let's see what happens Tuesday.

There were some positives. I hadn't been impressed with Luke Allen in the friendliest but I thought he was very good today, arguably MOTM. Also Luke Warner-Eley and Adam Cunnington impressed and Mark Smith made a couple of superb saves. We were lucky to survive Wealdstone's early onslaught with only a one goal deficit, but fought back well to go in level at half time. I thought we were in the ascendancy when Wealdstone got a somewhat fortuitous goal to take a 2-1 lead, but we did fall apart at the end.

There is no denying that there were some big problems in defence today, the Stones number 3 caused Jordan Wynter all sorts of problems, particularly in the first half and I don't think Tom Bonner will be pleased with his own performance.

Still, these are all good players and it's far too early to be making judgements. Win on Tuesday and it will all feel a lot better.

We clung on in the first half but nicked the equaliser seconds before half time and I thought we were looking the better team second half kicking down hill until their second fluky goal was deflected in. The general consensus on the coach home was Wealdstone then won it by quickly bringing on their subs and having fresh legs on a hot clammy day which we failed to match. Cunnington worked hard upfront and could be the big forward we have been looking for but without Lee Noble in midfield we were always going to be lacking in that department despite Luke Allen working hard. I noticed Phil Roberts was in the bar after the game, I wonder who will take a chance on him.

Finally someone has mentioned the ‘N’ word. One of the substitutes warming up in the first half said that Noble was being rested due to a hamstring niggle. I think Burman would have rolled the dice, maybe I’m wrong.
Interesting to hear some saying we have a better team than last year after that result and with Noble and Bradbrook missing. Whilst I agree that we weren’t as bad as the 4-1 score line would suggest, I felt that Wealdstone passed and attacked better than we did; there was some hoofball from the back in the last half hour; Amos Nasha was poor and I didn’t see the MOTM performance from Allen that many are talking about - a couple of easy passes he received in the first half spun off his foot and into touch.
On the positive side, Cunnington is big, strong and feisty. He will get us goals this season for sure. Wanadinio had a decent game, sadly on the other side Hayes had one of his ‘head down, every ball into the keeper’s arms’ type performances. As far as the defence is concerned, I think I’ll reserve judgement as two deflected shots and a penalty are harsh ways to concede three goals.

Naïve to condemn a season based on one game, but I still think our team is a little underwhelming and reckon there are too many big guns in the league for us to make the playoffs.
