I wouldn’t say you were wrong about this but I also think in the last 3rd of the season in particular where we didn’t play well, apart from the odd performance, the back 4 and particularly the centre backs were bombarded with what they had to deal with, under enormous pressure from start to finish in a lot of games. Some of the central defenders performances last season were outstanding game after game and in some real tough away games however I think there was an error or two but I also think they saved us as a whole over the course of the seeason.
So glad Tom B is staying and I have read reports he had around 4 offers and most of them better financial terms.

I have just read a report about the squad on the League website. It is very much like Eric Morecambe's reply to Andre Previn, 'playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order'. At least the names are correct.

Probably the only opinions that matter are reflected by the footfall through the turnstiles, and the number of Season Ticket renewals we make for next Term. That's the reality. Fans will align immediately with those Players who commit to be here. News of Players talking elsewhere doesn't stimulate support, it raises questions of commitment to "The Family", that raises further doubt with those who faithfully follow the Team.
The Closed Season is often dead time for Fans.. Dartford is a Club, not just a Team. Lee set the Bar. The new Players starting the rebuild seem set to fit the Mould. It's not going to be an easy ride, but I sense Dartford are "Re Booting"-
DFC...

The period you are talking about Kentc was just after Christmas when we went on the 'good spell' of our season. When I felt the back 4 were solid. You have a back four playing like that and you have confidence running through the team.
But then you couldn't make up the 'Phil Roberts' scenario which I felt coincided with the signing of Darren McQueen. Not saying that Darren was bad for the side, but with the mentality of Roberts, at the time, who saw that coming? A guy playing with confidence, suddenly going into melt-down.

The confirmation that Tom Bonner will be with us is great news. With rumours of disharmony and suggestions that Coyley & Flanners had lost the dressing room I was fearful that more than a few would leave. So it seems the duo have passed the first test in keeping all of our best players at the club. The new arrivals also seem to tick all the right boxes so we do so far seem to be heading in the right direction. If Mark Onyemah and Billy Crook sign too then I think we'll be two thirds of the way there. In the end though, I think our success or failure next season will all hang on the forwards. Will Charlie (who looked a bit jaded last year) get back to his best next season? Can Pughy come back from that horrible injury? Even if they both perform at their best we will surely need more striking options and I think our most significant signing will be whoever is brought in to join them up front. Unfortunately, good strikers are the rarest commodity on the market. Fingers crossed.

I think maybe Tom Bonnor should rebrand himself TB4 then might get the appreciation like others do. Tom puts his body and soul on the line every game, he is a true DFC man.
But it doesn’t matter if you’re 100% every game or you’re the leader who will stand up to every other player on the opposition and fight fight fight for the shirt, no, you can be as lazy as fu*k and be a hero and pull out you tube clips of yesteryear yet someone like TB4 will never get the same adulation all round as he’s not the terraces darling.
Ability means jack and popularity is not based on your weekly commitment or leadership it’s if you do the fluffy stuff nicely even without contributing much.

It’s amazing how popular you can be yet be detrimental to the team - it’s also amazing that you have a player who is not respected (by quite a few) whom is wholly committed, a high performing DFC man through and through and Captain.

Pointing out that our defenders failing yet if you coast through games doing naff all and just losing the ball every time you’re a hero with a thread on how great you are.

Try not to let popularity get in the way of high performers and real commitment as the players names in some cases will not match.

Maybe I should pull out all the videos where other teams score and mr popular is doing naff alll, not tracking back, not marking or even on many occasions giving the ball away before they score.
But I guess that would be the fault of the defenders then?

Performances on the pitch is what I care about but not to the many I guess for mr popular.

I think "naive" is the word your looking for? But honestly; i cannot understand the disdain shown towards Ryan Hayes by Mr KC ? Sorry my friend; but you really do need to let this go before it consumes you?

Kentc - your problem would seem to be more with the esteem held by another player, rather than the lack of appreciation for Bonner. You have pointed out in the past that many people who don’t post on the forum agree with your viewpoints, so keep this in mind when you read one or two posts on here not lauding as much praise unto Tom as your own. I’m pretty sure most Darts fans rate him highly as both a player and captain.
