Well, Edith sounds a barrel of laughs, I wonder where she get's that from?

What a load of rubbish so you think Lee Noble a very loyal club man couldn’t of got more money elsewhere.Happy chappy wrote:They all do.Home And Away wrote:Unfair on tom b don't think he chases money
Their first loyalty is to their wallets to support their families and pay the mortgage.
A loyal club man is someone who can't get better wages elsewhere IMO.

Disagree totally, we have had several players in recent years who have played for us when they could of got better deals elsewhere.Happy chappy wrote:They all do.Home And Away wrote:Unfair on tom b don't think he chases money

Re: Retained/Released players list
I may be wrong but wasn’t Tom B full time with us and involved with the academy the same as Pughy or am I mistaken?

They used to be involved in the Academy, but not recently. Last season Ronnie Vint and Ben were Academy coaches, I believe.
Like Park Life, I do think it is wrong to assume that players will automatically accept the highest offer. We have had several players in recent years who could have got better deals elsewhere.

Re: Retained/Released players list
Your correct Lincoln it was Ronnie that took over and I forgot that Andy had taken a job with family in place of the academy. I hadn’t realised Ben was now involved with them though.Lincoln exile wrote:They used to be involved in the Academy, but not recently. Last season Ronnie Vint and Ben were Academy coaches, I believe.

New Signing: Mark Smith

I can only judge on the games i've seen Mark play against us for Eastbourne and Billericay and for both he has been very good.
Not only that he was one of the best characters we've played against joining in the singing and banter.
Looks a very good signing.
Welcome Mark.

Re: Retained/Released players list
Welcome to our new goalkeeper Mark Smith.
Happy Chappy, it's neither fair nor true to say that ALL players are only interested in the money. I know of two occasions where players have agreed to sign for us before they'd even discussed money and there are undoubtedly many others who could have done better elsewhere. Bradders could certainly have got more elsewhere but stayed loyal. Lee Noble is the most obvious example of the current crop, but he's by no means the only one. Players are no different to the rest of us, for some it's about money, for others it's about enjoying where you are and for more than a few it's simply about paying the mortgage. We've been blessed with some very dedicated players over recent years but I think a lot of that is down to the excellent people / man management skills of Tony Burman. I do think it was a bit daft of the club to publicly announce an increased budget though, as some people may see this as an opportunity to ask for more.
