Re: £bbsfleet
That's ok if the fans get behind them all season and dont winge if things go wrong remember win lose or draw COYD
Re: £bbsfleet
To be fair to Andy Drury he didn't say players & staff should be paid a year's wages in advance, but a club should have enough money in their account to cover the season. If that was the case I think wages would take an immediate nose dive, as most clubs would not have the required amounts of cash available, if 20 staff only earned £200 per week £200,000 would be needed in the bank at the start of every season without all the other running costs.. It's an odd situation players want more money, but a good chunk of their wages at clubs of our level & below (& a fair few above) is raised by small armies of volunteer fans acting at all levels from programme sellers to chairmen working very hard to keep clubs afloat. Where would football be without those who give up their time & expertise for nothing and/or money out of their own pockets? Mr Drury may have a rethink when he is offered a large cut in wages for his next contract.

Excellent post Spike and I would say that a good many of the fans who watched the double annus horriblus in the (Skrill?) premier - including the ten match losing streak - would be be there again come hell or high water. It’s been a tough few years watching DFC leapfrogged by our Kent rivals, much to my chargrin I accept that we are at the level at which we probably belong, especially having come so close to winning this division two years in a row. But we are grounded and despite how some people within the camp feel we are stable and always making baby steps forward rather than jumping blindly into oblivion. What happens in football can be immortalised or very quickly forgotten, but the substance of our club means that we will all have something to watch and debate every Saturday and long may that continue.

Have a read of the below, it talks about how money needs to be managed, trips abroad and relocation payments!
CLUB MEETING | We haven't minuted every single word of the Friday night meeting with Dr Abdulla but these were the main points to come out of the 90-minute session as the club owner reiterated his commitment.

Wages not paid on time again, despite assurances being made. There is also a problem about last year's accounts not having been finalised, but they will be next week, or maybe not. Funny situation down there, the fans will be worried about the plug being pulled on them.

I see they are looking to off load all their contract player's now. I suppose if it's true about their large budget they could still cut their cloth and have a reasonable team next season. But with the late payments of wages there is a worry in attracting new players.

The same excuse given, problems transferring money internationally. Not a very convincing reason seeing how many international transfers are made every day all over the world from individuals to multi-national companies, and coming from an organization behind the planned? new theme park. 13 times out of the last 15 payments late, playing havoc with standing payments for mortgages etc. which can be an expensive and lengthy business to sort out. Not a happy situation all round.

Michael Cheek, who was on their retained list, signs for Bromley.

A big earner of the wage list and they would have received a fee as he was still under contract.BrianL wrote:Michael Cheek, who was on their retained list, signs for Bromley.
