19/20 Season
Re: 19/20 Season
The most important part of a club is it's fans Parky!!
Re: 19/20 Season
Who the vast majority of will only be there if the team is any good.

You seem very well informed, or more likely, just guessing Kentc.Kentc wrote:Lots of critics on recruitment. It’s been terrible. TB has a massive say on recruitment and no one bats an eye lid.
Your accusations re TB's involvement/interference on player recruitment demonstrate not only a lack of knowledge of the man but also a lack of respect too.
Like at least 90% of other fans I guess, I was very disappointed with Adam and Jamie's appointment and even more so with the decision to reappoint them for next season. Their player recruitment (no-one else's) has been truly awful and the root cause of an extremely disappointing season. I have absolutely no confidence at all that next season will be any better under their management.
We all knew this season would be transitional but what concerns me more is the squad now is significantly poorer than what Adam and Jamie inherited a year ago. Worse still the players were clearer not motivated at the end of the season and demonstrated no faith in the management. What I'm really worried about now is that the very few decent players we do still have (Bonner, Vint, Noble, Hayes etc) will, following thier reappointment, decide to jump ship and leave us in an even more desperate position next season.
I used to enjoy watchlng Adam and Jamie play for us, and I don't doubt that they are both decent guys trying hard. But ultimately, are they up to it? This season's showing suggests not. Neither does the decisions of the league's powerhouses (that are Welling and Concord) to dispense of their services last season.
There are several excellent better manager options currently available locally so I simply can't understand the Board's decision here. They have either seen something that none of us have, or perhaps they weren't brave enough to wake up, smell the coffee and make the right decision.
I just desperately hope they prove us all wrong next season. Current evidence suggests otherwise.
Re: 19/20 Season
The fans have turned out this season in fact the highest average since the 2013/14 season. Parky that's a fact sorry

Re: 19/20 Season
I am aware of that fact Arthur as I posted it months ago but if the same quality of football continues it is only a matter of time before attendances fall

Re: 19/20 Season
Park Life and myself have pointed out that fact to misinformed fans on many occasions this season Arthur. It's an excellent trend of which other clubs would be envious. I don't think anyone could seriously attribute this to the football though, more likely it is due to the excellent work behind the scenes with school kids, the academy and all the different teams that now play at the club. Whenever I come up to the club during the week, there are always hundreds of kids and youngsters playing football and milling around the place. People make a lot of daft comments about all sorts of things at our club, usually based on complete guesswork. The academy for example, often gets criticised for not producing enough first team players but as you know, it's not just about that. It makes money in its own right, generates interest and occasionally pops up with a quality player. It's all good! The stadium is a hive of activity throughout the week and there are so many more people becoming attached to the club in one way or another, that it's not surprising that this results in some of them coming up for the first team games. This is all fantastic work and along with the excellent way in which our club conducts its business, is why we are financially stable and secure. We should be very proud to support Dartford FC.Arthur Horsfield wrote:The fans have turned out this season in fact the highest average since the 2013/14 season. Parky that's a fact sorry
However all that excellent work can be undone if we get things completely wrong on the main pitch on a Saturday. I don't want to be a critic, I really don't. I have great respect for Flanners and Coyley for what they did as players and there are many people on our board who I consider good friends, but I cannot help but think this re-appointment is a huge error of judgement. I think it's clear that the overwhelming majority of fans think so too and Flanners & Coyley are going to be under massive pressure next season, right from the start. Even the moderate fans who have traditionally had the manager's back have spoken out against the decision. Against that sort of backdrop, and with a significantly weaker pool of players to begin with, their job is going to be 10 times harder next season.
I sincerely hope that they prove us all wrong and come what may, I will still be there every week, supporting whoever is out there on the pitch, but if they don't get off to a flying start then I fear it will all get very ugly very quickly.
Re: 19/20 Season
Arthur here.
In the current climate where the easy option is to sack the manager, I think that people should take notice of boards supporting their manager rather than react to the easy option of sacking the manager. Burnley FC are reaping the rewards of sticking by Sean Dyche when things weren't going as planned. DFC supporters I believe should take note

Re: 19/20 Season
We didn't have to sack them, they weren't on a contract for this season

Re: 19/20 Season
Are you saying there was no written agreement between them and DFC? I really can't believe that
Re: 19/20 Season
Parky you seem privy to people's contracts. How comes.. joking. Be careful what you wish for. I do not expect anyone who now says I do not want them to simply come on this platform if they do get it right to say well done I was wrong. They have made me eat my words. I hold my hands up. You can't have it both ways. If you feel thats incorrect I'm sorry. Those that want them out have signed publicly.
