Re: 19/20 Season
Now the managers have been confirmed for next season is it safe for me to spent time in my caravan at Leysdown to the start of the next season in the knowledge that there wont be any earth shattering news from PP?
Re: 19/20 Season
That's the first big test. With rumours about dressing room unrest, can they hold on to our better players? Heaven help us if they can't.Nobby2 wrote:i have said before we have to keep noble, bonner, vint and pugh and out the rest but the way this season went they might want to try elsewhere while we have these two non achievers in charge.

Re: 19/20 Season
Very disappointed with that decisión, even more so than the original idea to appoint them which seemed based on some sort of matey relationship than any relevant managerial achievements (they both performed badly the season before so whatever the decsison to appoint them was based on, the criteria never included some sort of success regarding peomotions, building a squad or anything relevant to the needs of DFC post Tony Burman).
Since then, they have produced a fairly poor season in which we looked nailed on play off candidates with ten games to go, but contrived to blow it, as well as some best forgotten cup runs. The huge player turn over means we have done nothing to build a core squad for the club beyond that which TB left us with, but we do have the added worry that these two have so far shown themselves to be wholly at sea as far as building a squad goes, or even basic recruitment.
I didn't want these two in charge when they were appointed - to sign two non entities is to show a high lack of ambition, and to retain them is to set that impression in concrete. We are left hoping they have learnt some lessons from this season, beyond the fact that a miserable run in like the one we have just done gets rewarded at Princes Park with a fresh contract. I'll hope for a better season next time out but if they do a similar job to last season over the summer, I can see we'll be getting wound up by october. Really poor management by the board.

Ken. Relax season over get some sun on your back recharge your battery for next season then see what happens for good or bad your view as been posted if management fail at least u can say I told u so
Re: 19/20 Season
Slightly different topic but related to next season: who do we think will move over from the South to the North as it’s likely that 3 teams will have to? My bets are on Gloucester, Oxford and Braintree. You could also consider Hemel and St Albans
Re: 19/20 Season
Probably only 2 to move up North, and Gloucester, playing at Evesham, and Oxford most likely as happened a few years ago. Hemel and St Albans with close access to M1 is an option if the league want to avoid the same teams being shuttled about.
3 southern based teams coming up to replace Truro, E.Thurrock and Weston. Weymouth and Dorking promoted, with playoffs over next few days to decide between Met Police and Poole from Southern League and Carshalton, Haringey, Tonbridge and Merstham from Isthmian. The winners of these two leagues play-off against the other this season to decide the third promoted team. 4 feeder leagues this season, but only 6 can be promoted, so it's the champions plus 2 of the 4 play-off winners.

Re: 19/20 Season
So we reward mediocrity with a new contract, I was underwhelmed at the start of last season and am again.
There are so many experienced managers out there with decent track records that we have decided to ignore. You are only as good as the league table and we are not progressing at all, please someone explain to me how we are happy with where we finished up?
Someone explain to me that player recruitment was good?
Massive test for the Joint Managers now, some would say they are under pressure, but only from the fans because the board are delighted.
Enjoy your rest Darts fans.

Yeah, I will relax. But it's irritating. And I don't really want to be crowing about having got it right - I'll be able to if things go pear shaped next season which isn't really something to wish for. But as Greg says above, we are rewarding mediocrity. No business can really afford to do that.Home And Away wrote:Ken. Re: 19/20 Season
Lots of critics on recruitment. It’s been terrible. TB has a massive say on recruitment and no one bats an eye lid.
Someone saying they agree we finished where to be expected. So behind Bath, Concord and Welling is where we expect? What a joke. Welling are the best of the rest (discount Woking and Torquay) and welling lose Coyle and look where they are, flan leaves concord, look where they are. So the only reason we should “expect” to come below the teams is if the 2 managers will bring us down while the clubs they left improve. Guess what, this happened.
So what do we do, we reward them.
There can not be any reason for this other than it’s mates doing it for mates again, if the board showed any bottle and made the right decisions rather than the look after your friends, then new fresh blood would come into the club.
It’s very clear and like an elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about that if the board dare get in an outsider with fresh ideas then TB would be in the back ground where he should be. He would not have an Imput but the board won’t have that as they are more interested in looking after their own.
If any of you really think he’s in the background not giving his Imput or not having the final say on transfers then listen to his own podcast and stop being so deluded.
There are managers out there we can afford. Jamie and Adam are on 2 salaries so put them to one for a start.
This board have bottled it yet again to get someone outside in who would have their own minds, coaching staff and ideas and not have TB pulling his strings and having a say. They can’t get away from it.
Flan and Coyle in the DFC family and TB closer than just in the back ground having a say on certain things.
No new comer would tolerate this and the board are far more interested in looking after their mates than moving the club forward. This is so very very clear.
There is no reason to keep J&A infact there is every reason to release them as they didn’t just fail they made huge errors of judgement all through the season.
They’re at the club becuase they have DFC links and this allows TB to still be around the first team, this is purely what the baords decisionis based on.
They don’t have the balls to appoint an outsider that would move the first team forward as it would change thier roles and Imput.
The board are excellent at running the financial aspect of the football club that’s proven however when it comes to the interests of the 1st team they have no bottle and all decisions are based on to look after thier own mates at the detriment to the 1st team progress.
This would happen at no other club and for others to say we are where we should be is embarrassing.
Run by mates for mates, to hell with first team results.
This club is meant to represent the people of Dartford as a town but it’s all too clichey with no ambition and excuse after excuse for failure that a lot of fans buy into just to justify thier decision to keep everything in thier own little mates group.
The footballing decisions of the board are driving this club backwards still and too many fans allow them to get away with it and defend.
